Brick facing (it is also called "front" and "facade" material) is used to finish the facades and other exterior elements of buildings and has the same size as the usual - 250x120x65mm. In addition, there are materials and with a smaller width (85 mm).

Before you decide which type of lining is better, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with the existing varieties of this type of building decoration material.

Types of facing bricks

Let's start with the fact that materials for cladding of buildings are produced, as a rule, hollow, so that they have excellent thermal characteristics. And indeed, in accordance with existing regulatory requirements, the cladding of the building must reliably protect it from the harsh winter frost and have a fairly presentable appearance.

The last condition implies the following:

  • monotony and evenness of color design facing coating;
  • perfection of its faces and accuracy of forms;
  • the inadmissibility of any bundles and the more cracks on the surface of the cladding.

All these requirements are satisfied by several types of finishing or facade brick products currently produced by domestic and foreign manufacturers. The most representative of these products are:

  • glazed;
  • engobed;
  • clinker products.

Features of use of a front brick

Glazed and engobed ceramics are supposed to be used in cases where you want to give the facade of the structure an original, unlike anything else. A wide choice of colors, distinguishing products of this class from similar products, will allow you to realize your wildest "ideas".

Similar requirements are made to the appearance of a brick, consisting in the fact that there are no cracks or surges on their surface, and no blistering is observed. It is allowed to have small notches and scarabkins on them, but only in strictly limited quantities.

The disadvantages of this type of cladding products can be attributed to the fragility of the color coating (top layer of the product), which is why the demand for them is not very large. These products come to us mainly from abroad to order, although the established production of products of this type exist in Russia.

Brick clinker

Klinker-type cladding is used for decorating basements of buildings, for paving roads, courtyards, streets, as well as for arranging floors in workshops of industrial enterprises and facing facades.

In the manufacture of this type of brick material, special refractory clays are used, which are subjected to firing at higher temperatures than is usually the case for the production of ordinary material.

Such a brick has a rather high cost, so it is advisable to use it only in cases where the elements of buildings or road surfaces are operated in the toughest modes.

Results

We hope very much that on the basis of the foregoing, you will be able to decide for yourself which facing brick it is better just apply when implementing your construction project.

In conclusion, we recall that when purchasing imported material we should not forget that European standards do not have to comply with domestic standards, and that these products may differ markedly in terms of frost resistance and strength, for example. It is especially important to remember this when using imported and domestic bricks in complex.
