The decorative rococo style was born in France in the distant times of the reign of King Louis XV (1715-1723). Having reached its apogee, this design direction quickly spread to the rest of Europe. That is why the name of the style comes from the French word “rocaille”, which means “decorative shell”.

Fashionable Chinese

In those years, the exotic “branch” of the rococo chinoiseri (Chinese) style was extremely fashionable. Medieval Chinese motifs, stylization and decoration techniques were necessarily present in the interiors of all the rich houses of European nobility. Painted mobile screens were especially popular, thanks to whose presence it was possible to change the space visually with ease. Exquisite orchids and golden aquarium fish in moments of pleasant rest enjoyed all those present in the room. The decoration of the houses was lacquered elegant furniture made by skilled Chinese craftsmen. Tables for festive dinners served with beautiful dinner sets made of the finest Chinese porcelain. The presence in the house of tapestries made in pastel colors, which depicted Chinese emperors, warriors, dancers or concubines, as well as scenes from Chinese life, pagodas and flowers, was considered fashionable.

And on the walls will look wonderful sconces, resembling a sea shell or bowl. The rococo style is also well emphasized by the gilded or bronze candlesticks and candelabra with candles placed in all the rooms.
  5. When making boudoirs characteristic is to create an atmosphere of intimacy, so the room is made small in size with a low ceiling in soft pastel colors. A combination of pearl white colors with pink, blue, cream or pale green shades are considered popular color solutions for the interior design of boudoir. Also in its decoration must be present gold. Rococo-interior is additionally decorated with especially female items such as a secretary on high carved legs, a cardboard box (a locker designed for storing papers), all kinds of puffs and bedside tables, small decorative dressing tables with a mirror.

The comfort of the interior is added by the presence of a beige (fr. Bergere - deep soft armchair on curved legs) and a canape (a wide armchair similar to a sofa with a high headboard).

When choosing furniture, it should be borne in mind that, in addition to its elegance and grace, it was pleasant to the touch and could delight a person, giving pleasure to his body in moments of relaxation and rest.
