Preparatory work

Before preparing the required material and tool, you should draw up a diagram of the future structure and accurately calculate its location. Having finished with these points, it is worth starting measurement of an entrance aperture. To increase the visibility, it is useful to use the existing sketch and adjust all the values to fit your version.

Drawing up a detailed sketch will allow you to better navigate the number of consumables and components. The construction of the structure involves the use and preparation of the following tools and materials:

In the manufacture of wooden doors for the garage must be prepared in advance special support. If they are not ready yet, then they will require two wooden beams or logs for their production.

We prepare pits for them with a depth of at least 1.2–1.5 m. When constructing any support structure, the simple rule is that the deeper the posts are located, the more stable and reliable the gate will be. We cut the workpiece to the required height, taking into account the part of the support, which will be in the ground. To increase strength, it will be useful to further strengthen the foundation of future support pillars, by filling the bottom of the recesses with a small amount of crushed stone of the 5–20 fraction and ramming the resulting substrate.

To prevent the premature destruction of wooden poles, it is necessary to treat the places that will be underground with a special waterproof mastic or resin.

Next, we install the pillars, fix the vertical position of the construction level and fill the indentations with concrete or cement mixture. In addition, to give greater practicality and aesthetics, you can impose concreted places with large stones or bricks.

Installation

After completing all the preparatory procedures, proceed to the manufacture of the structure itself.

Frame

In accordance with the dimensions of the entrance aperture, we cut the wooden bar to the required values and lay it out on an even place so that a rectangle or square is formed depending on the type of the gate.

We check the horizontal position and verticality of the laid out bars, then we drill holes in the corner joints and fasten the structure with screws or pins. It will not be superfluous to strengthen the corners and the center of the frame, respectively, with steel corners and transverse beams. The ends of the last products are cut at an angle of 45 ?, placed cross-wise and fixed with screws.

Metal profiled pipes can also be used as the basis for the future frame, but welding equipment will be required for manufacturing.

Finish

The next event is the manufacture and surface treatment of cladding elements. Depending on the material chosen and the size of the leaves, cut the required number of boards. As a rule, pine is used for plating, since wooden products from it have a small specific weight and are most protected from the harmful effects of environmental factors.

Facing board is placed close to each other and fixed with screws to the frame. Upon completion, all irregularities are cut and machined with a grinder or fine sandpaper.

To increase the density of fit to the frame and maintain the temperature in the garage, the edges of the doors can be sheathed with insulation.

Installation of hinges and fastening the valves

Preparing the gate leaf, proceed to the installation of metal hinges. In the case of attachment to the frame structure, the mounted parts are welded directly onto the frame, and, in the case of attachment to wooden bases, onto support columns. To determine the optimal location it is necessary to retreat from the upper and lower boundary of the support a distance equal to? total height of the pillars and map out the place. Then fix the hinges on the pillars and hang the sash.

Surface treatment

The gates are almost ready, it remains only to prime and coat the surface with antiseptics. After giving the necessary time to dry, proceed to the placement of accessories: handles, locks and bolts. To give a noble look, the gate can later be decorated with various forged elements.

Reliable bolts

They can be as L-shaped metal rods located on the sash. For their operation, it is necessary to place two small lengths of pipe with a diameter ensuring the free running of the rod in the intended places of entry into the ground, and also on each leaf to make a platform for fixing the fastener handle in a raised position.
