How to make a fence from the profile pipe
The so-called profile pipe differs from other pipe products in the shape of its cross-section, which may have a rectangular (square) or oval section. The high popularity of the profile hardware is explained by the peculiarities of their configuration, due to which their strength characteristics significantly exceed those of products from a round pipe. As for the other advantages of products of this class, the following ones deserve our attention:
- the relative lightness of the construction of shaped pipes;
- low labor costs;
- low cost
The advantages of the profile tube products manifest themselves most clearly in the manufacture of fences and fences of various configurations. In this article we will try to acquaint you with how to make a fence from a shaped pipe with minimal cost. As an example, we have chosen the option of welded fencing, which is distinguished by its increased reliability (compared to such well-known structures as modular fencing).
Materials and tools
Successful construction of a welded fence from a metal profile is impossible without the use of the following materials and special tools:
- a set of shaped pipes with a wall thickness of about 3 mm and a cross section of 40x40 mm (50x50 mm);
- support columns of metal pipes of suitable size (100mm);
- cross-section workpieces used as crossbars;
- welding machine;
- clamp, sledgehammer, shovel and building level.
The main difficulties of arranging fences of this type are associated with the need to use welding equipment and the presence of certain skills to work with it. We especially note that all billets of shaped tubes must be fitted in length before welding, after which they must be trimmed.
Sketch preparation and section manufacturing
Before you make a fence of the profile pipe, you will need to prepare a sketch of a separate intake section and draw a diagram of the entire assembly as a whole. You can always find options for circuit solutions using profile pipes on the Internet, or you can prepare them yourself. Further operations to build a barrier are usually performed in the following sequence:
- First, from the existing blanks, the frames of the intake sections are welded. In order to avoid displacement of the blanks during the welding process it is recommended to fix them with the help of special clamps.
- Then the filling pipes and the decoration elements chosen for your taste are welded to the already prepared frame.
- After all the sections of the fence are ready - you can proceed to their assembly at the final installation site.
- Excavation work begins with the markup, produced in accordance with the size of the prepared sections and consisting in the designation of the location of pillar supports.
- After that, you can start preparing the pit, the width of which should be 100 mm larger than the diameter of the supports used. When choosing the depth of the pit should be based on the characteristics of the soil in the place of their preparation. For dense soil, this figure should be one meter, and for the loose layer of the earth - 1.5 meters. The bottom of the finished pit is then filled with a layer of rubble about 30 centimeters thick.
- After a thorough tamping of the bottom of the pit, a metal support is installed in it (a pipe of an appropriate size), which is first covered with rubble and then poured with cement mortar. To strengthen the structure of the support, it will be possible to fix it with the help of additional stretch marks.
- Immediately after the solution has grabbed, you can proceed to the installation of sections of the fence, which, after careful alignment, are placed between the pipe supports and welded to them.
In the event that a special fastener is laid in the structure of your fence (loops with hooks, for example), they are assembled by hanging the sections onto supports.
Concluding remarks
In some cases, your chosen decorative elements (usually made from a thin pipe) are welded to the grid immediately after the installation of all sections. At the final stage of the described works, fences are treated with a special compound that protects them from corrosion. In this case, special attention is paid to the areas of welding, which are carefully cleaned from scale, and then painted.
As an alternative to the above welded structure, you can choose a sectional metal fence from purchased items, purchased in finished form and mounted in accordance with the instructions attached to the kit.
