Brick fence do it yourself

The desire to hide their homestead plots from prying eyes appears to their owners is not so rare. In addition, if we consider that many land plots cannot boast of large size, the question of creating a “border” around them for the possibility of solitude becomes quite relevant. But which fence is better to choose?

The most common material today for these purposes (provided that you decided to build the fence, as they say, for centuries) became a brick - it is durable, beautiful and of course durable. But before starting work, you should definitely find out how to build a brick fence yourself, so that the result is not just massive, but also pretty.

Establishing the boundaries of the site

Start building a brick fence with your hands should be with the establishment of the exact boundaries of the site. You will not be able to do this yourself, so you will have to contact the surveyors. If you have already done land surveying, they will quickly bring your borders to life, as the coordinates of your site have already been determined. In the case when you have not done the survey, you should begin work on the construction of a brick fence with this process. Remember that moving the brick fence to the side at least 10 centimeters without breaking it will not work, so do not rush into its construction (there is always a chance that your border will actually not be where you think it is).

Having dealt with the exact boundaries of the site, you can proceed to the next stage - determining the location of the fence itself. You should not assume that the middle of your brick fence should always run strictly along the line representing the boundary of the site. This rule is relevant only if you are building a brick fence between your land and the street.

But a brick fence between neighboring areas will require more attention from you:

  • first, it is necessary to coordinate such a fence with a neighbor (if he is against it, he will have to confine himself to the usual net-rabbit);
  • secondly, with a brick fence thickness of more than 100 mm, its axis is better displaced to its side (otherwise your neighbor may be indignant that you occupied part of his land under your fence) - according to the norms, a neighboring site should have no more than 5 centimeters total fence thickness;
  • thirdly, your neighbor is absolutely not obliged to pay for the construction of a common fence, since you decided to build a brick fence, but not him.

Foundation

The next step is to build a foundation for a brick fence with your own hands. It will simultaneously be its base, that is, it will protrude above the ground level by at least 10 centimeters, so the foundation must be made of durable material (for example, of reinforced concrete). The thickness of the foundation should be equal to (or slightly greater than) the thickness of the brick pillars, which will serve as supports for the brick walls.

The depth of such a foundation, provided that all the walls will be made of brick, should not be less than 50 centimeters.

Pillars

Pillars из кирпича необходимо располагать примерно каждые три метра забора. Более точное расстояние между ними зависит от длины вашей границы, так как построить красивый кирпичный забор можно только соблюдая одинаковое расстояние между секциями.

In the center of each brick pillar, there must necessarily be a frame embedded in the foundation throughout its depth. As a framework, there can be either four reinforcing rods interconnected in the spatial structure, or a metal pipe (of circular or square cross section).

The space between the frame and the inner walls of the brick should be filled with a cement-sand mortar.

It is better to take a facing brick, since usually these elements of the fence are not plastered. Laying should be done with an obligatory jointing. To prevent the destruction of pillars of brick under the influence of snow and rain, they must be closed with a "cap".

To reinforce the entire structure of the fence, every 3-4 rows of masonry need to insert small metal rods (40-50 cm long), which will later be included in the laying of the walls - this way you will get a more reliable fence than when you separate the walls that are not connected in any way pillars.

Prostani

Prostani между двумя кирпичными столбами можно выполнять из:

  • facing brick with jointing from its two sides;
  • ordinary brick, provided that later you either plaster it, or coat it with other materials (for example, natural or artificial stone).

In this case, an ordinary clay brick can be put both on the edge (in this case, the thickness of the pier will be only 65 mm) and on the usual face (the thickness of the pier will be 120 mm).
