What are the dimensions of the sheet for the roof -
Profiled flooring is a practical, inexpensive, but durable and weatherproof roofing material, which is currently considered to be the leader among roof coatings in the private, industrial, and commercial sector of civil engineering. For the construction of more than 60% of country and garden houses used decking. Sheet dimensions allow you to easily overlap the slopes of any shape, area and slope. This universality explains the high demand for professional sheet. In this article we will describe what standards govern quality, in what sizes it is produced, as well as how to calculate how much material is required for installation.
The composition of the sheet and types
Profiled sheeting is a roofing material made from high-quality galvanized sheet steel by cold pressing. In the production process, a smooth sheet is given a wavy shape with a powerful press, the vertical walls of which are essentially additional stiffening ribs that increase the rigidity and mechanical strength of the material. To protect the metal from corrosion, a polymeric coating or special paint is applied on the professional flooring. In accordance with the performance and scope of this material is classified into the following categories:
- Wall. This class of profiled sheet is distinguished by a lower thickness of the steel base, a smaller height of the profile wave, and therefore a lower carrying capacity. It is mainly used for the construction of fences, fences, as well as wall cladding. For the construction of the roof wall profiled can be used only as a temporary coating during installation.
- Carrier. The bearing profiled is distinguished by the fact that it is made of thicker galvanized steel, and the wave height of this material sometimes exceeds 100 mm. It is used for the construction of hangars, garages, containers, as it has a high bearing capacity. This material can be used as roofing if it is necessary to block a large area with a flat or single-sloped roof.
- Universal (roofing). This type of profiled sheet has average characteristics that are between the wall and the supporting material. Most often it is the universal profiled used for the construction of the roof. The sufficient thickness and carrying capacity of the material in a set with a low price makes it one of the most practical roofing.

Important! The quality of the profiled sheet is determined by only 3 parameters: the thickness, width and shape of the surface waves that meet the standards. Requirements for this material are specified in GOST 24045-94, which regulates the standard sizes and tolerances in the production of corrugated board. Manufacturers carry out certification of products voluntarily, but as a material for the construction of the roof, having a certificate of conformity, there is no doubt.
Standard sizes
The dimensions of corrugated flooring are another advantage of this material, they allow you to select sheets that are optimally suitable for flooring roofing. Different grades of profiled sheet are distinguished by 4 parameters - the thickness of the steel base, the width and length of the sheet, as well as the shape and height of the profile wave. From these criteria depends on the scope and cost of the material. For the construction of fences used sheets with a small thickness and length, which are conveniently placed between the supports. And for the construction of the roof used corrugated with a wave height of at least 50-60 mm. Roofing material produced on the basis of profiled steel sheet has the following standard dimensions:
- The length of sheeting depends on the scope of this material. Manufacturers use rolling mills that can produce sheets up to 14 m long. The professional sheet used to overlap the roof of residential buildings is usually cut into 6 m sheets, since increasing the length beyond this indicator makes transportation unnecessarily expensive.
- Width of a professional leaf is limited to production conditions. Rolled sheet galvanized steel, coming under the press, has a standard size of 1250 mm, and what will be the width of the material after leaving the conveyor depends on the shape and height of the wave. The width of the bearing profiled sheeting of the C75 brand is only 800 mm, and the same parameter of the wall brand C8 is 1200 mm, despite the fact that they are made from the same starting material. That is, the width of the material depends on the shape and height of the profile.
- The thickness of the profiled sheet used for roofing is 0.45-1.2 mm. This indicator has an impact on the strength, carrying capacity of the durability of the material. In addition, the thicker the decking, the more expensive it is.

Note! Roofing corrugated differs from the wall shape and profile height. Waves of this material are, on average, higher, which makes it possible to better discharge melt and rainwater accumulating on the slopes. In addition, it is often supplied with additional stiffening ribs, which increase the strength and carrying capacity of the material.
Material calculation
When installing the roof, a situation often arises when the roofing material is not enough. In this case, you have to buy the missing, and also shell out for delivery because of some pair of sheets. This brings nervousness to the process, makes the craftsmen find out and save on the overlaps, which ultimately increases the cost of roofing, reduces their quality. To avoid such trouble, you need to calculate how many sheets of corrugated board will be required for roofing. Calculations are performed as follows:
- First of all, determine the area of skates. If they have a rectangular shape, then you just need to multiply the length by the width of the slope, and then multiply by 2. If the result is an uneven number, it is rounded up to the whole.
- Then choose the appropriate grade of profiled sheeting and determine the useful area of the sheet. This indicator is different from the geometric area, since the calculation takes into account the value of the vertical and horizontal overlap. The overlap depends on the brand of the profiled sheet and the angle of inclination of the roof slopes.
- Knowing this data, it remains to divide the area of the slope by the effective surface area of a single sheet of corrugated sheet.

Skilled masters advise to get a professional flooring with a small insurance stock, it makes 10-15% of the number of sheets. The more complex elements in the roof structure (“cuckoos”, endov, ribs), the more stock is made.
