Technological roofing structures made of modern materials have a high integrity and a long service life. They differ from less advanced predecessors in the absence of gaps, cracks and holes, which were not only causes of leaks, but also served as natural ventilation. Therefore, multilayer roofing of profiled metal, the device of which includes thermal insulation, vapor barrier, as well as waterproofing, requires the installation of a forced ventilation system. In this article we will describe how to equip a ventilation outlet for metal tiles in order to extend the service life of the coating and the wooden elements of the roof frame.

Device and species

The ventilating exit for the roof is a device in the form of a small tube made of metal or plastic, whose diameter is in the range of 30-100 mm and its length is up to 50 cm. It is installed in the immediate vicinity of the ridge of the roof (not further than 60 cm), in order to ensure heated air saturated with water vapor, free access from the interior of the house to the street. For the equipment of forced ventilation of the roof use 2 types of schemes:

• Roof ventilation. This system is designed to optimize the temperature and humidity in the roof ventilation gap. It solves the problem of the dampness of the thermally insulating material and wood of the rafter frame. Although the price of such a solution is low, it is rarely used to organize a ventilation outlet for metal tiles, since due to the heating of the inner surface of the roof, an ice crust forms, which completely stops the air exchange. For the arrangement of roofing ventilation pipes are used, equipped with elastic penetration and deflector, of such length that they reach the rafter.
• Through ventilation. This scheme differs from the roofing in that the ventilation outlets pass through the roofing pie and enter the attic. The pipes used for the installation of through ventilation work as coaxial, the price for such products is higher, but high efficiency justifies these costs. The pipes have a special design - 2 independent circuits remove excess moisture from the roofing pie and provide air circulation in the attic.

Functions

Universal ventilation outlet must be installed on the roof of metal, as this material is produced in the form of sheets of a large area, the seams between which are sealed during installation. There are 3 important reasons why you should equip roofing ventilation:

1. It prevents wetting of insulation, thereby preserving the high insulating properties of the material. Keep in mind that when the moisture content of the thermal insulation layer is only 5%, the thermal conductivity of the material doubles and remains so even after drying. Therefore, the installation of ventilation outlets, the installation price of which does not exceed several thousand rubles, is able to delay the complete replacement of the thermal insulation layer.
2. Roof ventilation prevents increased humidity and premature wear of the roof frame, which is almost entirely made of wood. Wood - a material of natural origin, with increasing humidity, it suffers from rot and mold, which are the result of the activity of harmful microorganisms.
3. This simple measure, the price of which is less than 1/10 of the total cost of roofing, optimizes and levels the temperature of the roof covering. Due to ventilation outlets, no ice crust is formed on the roof surface, overloading the roof frame and damaging the metal tile coating during sliding.

Professional roofers claim that for a roof with a slope of 20-30 degrees and an area of ​​not more than 60 square meters. m only one ventilation outlet with a diameter of 50 mm. The bigger and steeper the slopes, the more pipes will be required. The universal kit includes the pipe itself, the elastic casing, the plastic penetration, the protective deflector, the template and the fasteners. Installation

Installation of ventilation outlets on the roof of metal is performed after the completion of roofing work. For installation, you will need a hacksaw or scissors for metal, a marker, a drill, a screwdriver, and a silicone-based sealant. Works are performed according to the instructions in the following order:

• Determine the location of the ventilation outlet. It should be located near the ridge (not further than 0.6 m). If the roof has a complicated configuration, then a separate aerator is installed on each skate.
• At the selected installation location impose a template that comes with a pipe. The template must be fixed on the roof with scotch or hold hands and circle a marker.
• After removing the template from the markup, the drill makes several holes to facilitate metal cutting. Metal tile cut hacksaw or scissors for metal, as the Bulgarian damages the nickel coating material that protects against corrosion.
• With the help of silicone sealant, roofing screws, elastic casing fixes the hole made outside. Then insert a plastic penetration into it.
• Insert the vent outlet so that the upper part of the elastic casing tightly wrapped around the pipe. Using the construction level, the vertical position is checked. The connection between the exit and casing element can be strengthened with a steel clamp or sealant.
• You can install a decorative sheet metal apron in the color of the metal tile over the elastic casing, and then put the protective deflector on the pipe.

Important! The installation cost of each ventilation exit on the roof of metal is 70-10% of the cost of materials. Therefore, it is more rational to do the installation yourself, paying special attention to the sealing of the seams, as well as the vertical position of the pipe.
