Types of corrugated roofing, types of professional sheet -
From the correct choice of roofing material depends on the durability, reliability and ease of use of the roof. However, it is difficult to decide which coating to use without the help of an experienced mother. Commercials and booklets praise some of the material, sellers stubbornly recommend others, which completely confuses the buyer. Roofing from low-quality profiled sheet metal will not last longer; it will bring homeowners more problems and repairs than good. In this article we will tell you what types of corrugated roofing are, as well as what requirements for this material are regulated by GOST 24045-94.
Characteristics of the material
The professional sheet is the most popular roofing material for arranging the roofs of household, outhouse and industrial buildings, a little less it is used in private housing. Profiled, according to the definition of GOST 24045 94, is the material produced by the method of cold profiling of steel. It has a multilayer structure, as the basis of the profiled sheet used sheet steel with a thickness of 0.5-1.2 mm, which is applied galvanic zinc coating, and then polymer protective film of Pural, polyester or plastisol. All types of sheeting have the following performance characteristics:
- Sheets used for the construction of the roof, have a high bearing capacity, which is formed by increasing the number of ribs. Roofing professional sheet according to GOST 24045 94 must withstand a significant snow load, as well as the average weight of a person.
- The professional flooring has high corrosion resistance. The polymer coating, which covers the sheets, protects the metal from contact with the liquid, which prevents the appearance of foci of rust.
- Lightweight enough. Universal, roofing and wall types of the professional leaf possess rather small weight in comparison with other materials. Sheets measuring 1 square meter have a weight of only 5-7 kg, for example, the same area of a traditional ceramic tile weighs almost 17 kg. The light weight of the material will allow the use of a simple roof frame for the roof and a lattice crate in increments of up to 30 cm.
- Various types of a professional leaf let out with different standard sizes. Most often, the sheets have an overall width of 1250 cm, and the length can be from 1 to 12 m.
- According to GOST 24045 94, a professional sheet can have 5,6,7 or 8 waves. The most popular are the 7th and 8th wave profiled, as its technical characteristics are better suited for roof overlapping.
- Versatility. Decking cover the roof with a slope of 6 degrees. Experienced masters say that you can use this material, starting from the angle of inclination of the slope of 3 degrees, if you do more overlap and handle joints with sealant.

Pay attention! All types of corrugated board made in accordance with GOST 24045 94 are cut and mounted using the cold method, as the protective polymer coating on the surface of the material under the influence of high temperature burns out. Installation work with the use of profiled sheet is not performed using grinders, welding or abrasive tools.
Varieties of material
Decking is a versatile material with which a lot of construction tasks are performed. In order to comply with the technical specifications of the conditions of use, manufacturers produce different types of corrugated flooring, differing in price, bearing capacity, shape, height and width of the profile, size. In accordance with GOST 24045 94, there are 3 types of shaped metal roof covering:
- "H" - the bearing profiled sheets that are used for flooring and other horizontal coatings. They have a high carrying capacity, the waves have a maximum height. This type of corrugated board is made from sheet steel with a thickness of 1-1.2 mm with a thick protective coating of polymers. Often, manufacturers provide carrier-type coatings with additional stiffeners.
- The letter "C" marks the wall profiled sheets of steel used for the construction of protective structures, fences, wall cladding or formwork construction. Profiled wall type is not used for roof equipment, as its performance characteristics do not allow to create a strong and durable coating. The thickness of this type of material is usually 0.5-0.8 mm, it has no additional grooves, and the profile height is minimal. Wall profiled sheet has a low bearing capacity, so it does not withstand the snow load during winter snowfall.
- The letters "CH" in the labeling means that the professional sheet refers to the universal type. It is used to overlap the roof, fences and wall cladding. Technical characteristics of this material are average in all respects: the base thickness is within 0.8-1 mm, the average height of the corrugations, the average bearing capacity.
Important! According to GOST 24045 94, the professional sheet is divided into categories according to the technical characteristics of the material and the purpose. Experienced roofing masters recommend using products labeled “H” and “CH” for roof arrangement. Only the profiled flooring of these species has sufficient bearing capacity to withstand a significant snow load. In addition, the height of the profile allows you to effectively remove the melted and rainwater from the slope. Versatile and carrying professional sheet have a thick polymer coating that protects against the formation of corrosion.
Selection rules
The choice of quality and appropriate use of the material - the key to a long service life, durability and reliability of roofing. Without the help of a professional master, it is difficult to understand which sheeting is better. In order not to get lost in a wide range of profiled sheeting, they are guided by the following indicators:
- Compliance with products GOST 24045 94 or other technical regulations adopted by the manufacturer of corrugated board. Certification of roofing profiled sheets is a voluntary procedure, but the presence of such a certificate of conformity serves as a guarantee of the manufacturer’s good faith and material quality.
- Purpose The material must correspond to the place of installation, so for the roof you need to use a universal or supporting profiled, and for wall fences.
- The thickness of the material. For the erection of the roof use profiled flooring with a thickness of 0.8-1.2 mm, since it has sufficient strength to withstand the weight of a person and snow during the most heavy snowfall.
- Type of coverage. Decking with zinc or aluminum coating is cheaper than all but badly resist corrosion. More expensive brands with a coating of polymers (plastisol, polyester, Pural) serve much longer than usual.
- The size. Sheet size should correspond to the geometry and area of the slope. For large roofs, you can purchase profiled sheeting, cut along the length of the slope, then when laying you get less seams, which means the coating will be more reliable and durable.
- Load bearing capacity. The greater the carrying capacity of corrugated, the higher the wave profile. This indicator is important for regions with a large snow load.
- Colour. Manufacturers produce profiled sheets to cover the roof in a standard palette. The shade of the material can be chosen to finish the walls.

Experienced craftsmen argue that when you purchase a professional flooring, you should carefully examine the packaging material. According to the requirements of GOST 24045 94, it must reliably protect the material from mechanical damage, contain information on labeling and coating characteristics.
