Tesovy roof and roof - the device and installation
In the age of modern technology, when most building materials are one or other products of oil refining, traditional technologies of housing construction using environmentally friendly raw materials are back in fashion. One of these constructive solutions, which, unlike innovative coatings, does not have a negative impact on human health is a negative effect. The roof of natural wood has a rich history of use and perfected assembly technology for centuries, therefore, it reliably protects the house from the penetration of precipitation without interfering with its “breathing”. In this article we will talk about the features of the design and assembly of the roof of the yew, that is, cut boards.
Design
In the old days, tees called the treated wood, that is, the edged board. In order to get a tes for the construction of the roof, the log was cut lengthwise, and then the edges were hewn so that the board had the same width along the entire length. Previously, this work was done manually, now the lumber is produced on automatic equipment, setting the required thickness of the element. The edging board was laid on the rafters in 2 rows, so that atmospheric moisture did not pass through it. In order for a tesa roof to last longer, wood must be properly prepared:
- At first, sawn timber is oiled using a planer to make the wood surface smooth, facilitating further processing.
- Then, the tesa is impregnated with antiseptic preparations necessary to protect the tree from the effects of mold and fungal microorganisms, leading to the material rotting under conditions of high humidity.
- At the final stage, the cut board is impregnated with a fire-blocking agent several times in order to reduce the risk of occurrence and rapid fire.
Note! Tesa roofing is made of hard wood with high density. Pine is considered more affordable in terms of cost, but larch, containing natural volatile production and essential oils that prevent wood rotting, is suitable for building a roof much more.

Virtues
The roof of the edged board, which is impregnated with antiseptic and fire retardant is considered a real alternative to modern technologies of erection of the roof. Высокие требования к экологической безопасности строительных материалов и забота о здоровье заставляют людей возвращаться к традиционным методам возведения жилья взамен использования покрытий на основе битума, асбеста и других опасных веществ. Virtues тесовой кровли считают:
- Low thermal conductivity. Wood has a low coefficient of thermal conductivity, so the roof does not heat up from the sun and does not release heat in the cold season.
- Breathability. The tree lets out steam and air, therefore the house with a roof from this material "breathes", in it the curative microclimate is created, pleasant for living.
- High noise absorbing ability. The roof of the edged board effectively dampens sounds during rain or wind.
- Unusual design. Structures with tesov roofs look original, they repeat the look of a traditional Russian tower.
Important! The main advantage of the construction of the roof of the edged boards can be called environmental safety. All materials and fasteners are safe for human health and for nature. In addition, its assembly does not require sophisticated tools and skills.
disadvantages
On the other hand, a mezzanine roof is difficult to compete with modern roofing materials, which are characterized by a long service life, aesthetic appearance and ease of operation. Despite widespread use in antiquity, there are drawbacks to edged board roofs:
- Great weight. Compared to modern roofing materials, the diecast roof weighs a lot, which makes it necessary to strengthen the roof frame, which increases the time and costly material costs.
- Fire hazard Wood is a flammable building material, so it must be deeply impregnated with a fire retardant to reduce the risk of the occurrence and rapid spread of fires.
- Difficulty in care. In order for the roof of the edged board to last for a long time, it must be periodically treated with water-repellent and antiseptic agents, otherwise it will begin to rot.
Consider that high-quality wood, especially larch, is quite expensive, therefore it is difficult to call this technology economical. If you use low-quality boards for the construction of the roof, it will last a long time.

Styling methods
In order to obtain an airtight coating, protected from moisture penetration, the boards are laid on a sheathing fixed to the rafter legs. There are several ways to make a tesa:
- Single layer This technology provides for placing the tesa in one layer without a gap. The seams between the boards are sealed with slats of 20x50 mm in size, which are called splices.
- Double Layer This roof consists of two layers of boards. The first one is laid on the crate all the way to each other, and the second one is offset by half of the board, so that the seams between the elements overlap with the cage of the next layer. To save material, you can lay the first layer with a gap, and the second to close these distances between the boards.
- Transverse. In this case, tes mount across the ramp. The first is placed the bottom board along the roof overhang, and then on it with an overlap of 50 mm fix the second element of the crown roof.
Consider that a roof from a heel, in order not to miss atmospheric moisture, should have a slope of 28-45 degrees. In this case, the lower layer is laid down core, and the next, on the contrary, core up.
