Any person, at least once engaged in the construction of their own home, should be familiar with the various options for roofing used in country buildings. In the article we will tell how to build a multi-tongued roof with your own hands. This roof is a rather complex structure, incorporating many structural elements (tongs, ramps, ribs, valleys, etc.).
Advantages and disadvantages

Among the advantages of multicore roofs, the following stand out:

- a significant amount of waste, which is associated with complex geometric outlines of the roof and the difficulty of installing standard blanks without the formation of excess material;
- the need for accurate calculations to ensure uniform distribution of the loads exerted by the entire roofing system on the supporting foundation of the building.
Rafter part
Before you make a multi-tongued roof, you should carefully study the structure of its truss system with the formwork used for direct mounting of the roofing material. From the correctness of the execution of this part of the structure, ultimately, depends on the strength of the entire roof, as well as how long the latter can serve its owner.
Note that during the construction of a particular structure, as a rule, its own special scheme is selected, which differs from the others both in the construction of the roof system and in the set of its constituent elements.
The rafter system includes such standard construction elements as rafters, beams and the so-called mauerlat. Before the start of its installation, you should focus your attention on the power plate, which is essentially the supporting element of the whole structure as a whole. Usually it is made of pine timber, the section and length of which are calculated in advance and laid directly in the construction project.

In addition, for the construction of a full-fledged carrier system, you will need 2 types of rafters (plain and hanging), used both in complex and separately. The choice of one or another type of rafters is also determined by the data provided for your facility by the developers of project documentation.
Order of construction
When studying the design of a polychip roof, the conclusion suggests itself that it consists of several two-slope roofs, which are interconnected according to a certain plan.
We note in passing that with such a combination and alternation of a number of roofs, the structure acquires a rather original (one might say “fabulous”) look and makes a very favorable impression on the visitors of your estate.

The order of construction of a multi-gable roof:
- First of all, a series of exact calculations is carried out, concerning not only the geometrical dimensions of the elements of the future roof, but also taking into account the snow, wind and other loads exerted on it during operation.
- Then, a competent calculation of the truss structure (length and section of the rafter, Mauerlat and other auxiliary supports) is made. Their selection should be made strictly in accordance with the recommendations of reputable sources, in a large number of presented on the Internet.
- When arranging the truss system, first around the entire perimeter of the bearing walls, the mauerlat is laid out, which is the basis of the future roofing. The fixing of the power plate on the walls of the house is carried out in any way suitable for this case.
- After that, the installation of the main elements of the roof, such as rafters, additional struts, skates, etc. You can use ordinary nails or small brackets to fasten them together (in special cases, special reinforcement bars are used).
- Upon completion of all these operations, the sheathing is mounted, protected by layers of insulation. Before closing the batten, one or another roofing material should not forget about steam and waterproofing of the structure.
