Kapelnik for metal tile - installation and installation

25-03-2018
Roof

Installation of metal tiles consists not only of laying profiled steel sheets, as it seems to non-professionals. An important stage of roofing is the installation of auxiliary elements. They make up only 2-5% of the roof area, but perform important functions, increasing the service life, increasing the reliability of the structure. Experienced craftsmen claim that additional elements, including drips for metal, should be used when building a roof. In this article we will tell you how to choose them correctly and then install them.

Kinds

Kapelnik - additional elements with the help of which the installation of metal tiles. They are curved strips necessary to protect the structure from ingress of atmospheric moisture or condensate. Installation of these slats is made during the execution of roofing work. There are 2 types of these additional elements:

  • Eaves. They intend for eaves represent the metal level having 2 bends. One bend separates the dripstick on an apron, which is attached to the eaves board, and a skirt that directs moisture into the gutter. The second bend adds rigidity to the edge of the part. Eaves
  • Gabled They are designed for gables have a more complex structure, they are a metal bar with three bends. They consist of an apron, with which they carry out the installation of the element, steps, skirts. Pediment

Important! The installation of droppers serves primarily practical purposes, however, they also give aesthetics, completeness to the appearance of the coating. The main objective of these elements is to protect the frontal and eaves board from ingress of thawed or rainwater.

Material

Kapelki made from the same material as the metal, that is, from galvanized steel with polymer coating. They have high strength, resistance to moisture, temperature changes. These products are made on special machines - listogibah. There are 3 criteria for choosing these important roofing elements:

  1. Metal thickness Kapelniki are made of galvanized steel sheets with a thickness of 0.35-0.5 mm. The thicker the metal, the greater the corrosion resistance of the part and the longer its service life.
  2. Type of coverage. Paint and polymers are used as a coating of additional elements. Finishing elements coated with paint are cheaper, but they are less durable, less resistant to corrosion. Polymeric spraying from pural, plastisol or polyester enhances the protection of the product against rust, moisture, mechanical damage.
  3. Color and shine. Manufacturers produce glossy or matte drip, and the color of the product is chosen in tune to the metal tile.

Experienced roofing masters argue that the drip can be made from the steel sheet with the help of a sheet bending machine. However, the installation of home-made elements of the roof entails frequent repairs and leaks, as they do not have polymer protection.

Standard sizes

Installation of the roof must be carried out using drippers to protect the eaves and frontal boards from getting wet as a result of contact with atmospheric moisture. Standard sizes этих элементов зависят от возможностей оборудования и габаритов металлических заготовок. Листогиб может выполнять гиб длиной 1,25-4 м в соответствии с величиной станка. The following sizes are considered standard:

  • The length of the element is 2 meters.
  • The useful length of the element is 1.8-1.9 m, in accordance with the amount of overlap on which installation is performed.
  • Of the standard steel sheet with a width of 1250 mm without waste, 8 eaves drippers are made, the length of which is 2 m.
  • From the standard sheet of steel with a width of 1250 mm without waste, 6 gable gumblers with a length of 2 m are made.

Note that 2 meters is the optimal length of the droplets, at which the required stiffness of the element is achieved. Fastening parts greater than length causes inconvenience and the risk of deformation of the drip.

Installation

Installation of drippers can be easily done by hand, since this does not require special tools. You can install these additional elements for metal tiles using metal shears, a hammer, galvanized nails with a wide hat or self-tapping screws and a screwdriver. Installation of drips is performed according to the following technology:

  1. A protective film is removed from the front of the part to prevent mechanical damage during storage and transportation.
  2. Curtain rods install after assembling the frame, but before the laying of roofing material. Finishing elements are fixed with nails or screws with an overlap of 10-20 cm.
  3. Pediment droppers are attached after metal tile flooring. Installation begins not with the ridge, but from the edge of the gable overhang. The overlap between the elements also make 10-20 cm.

Note! Many craftsmen put a rubber seal or a waterproofing film between the eaves or frontal board and the dripstick to protect the wooden elements from moisture, condensation and mechanical damage.
