How to bring the pipe through the roof of corrugated and
Roofs made of corrugated flooring earned the trust of private developers due to their light weight, long service life and appearance, imitating the relief of traditional ceramic tiles. Sheet corrugated is a thin, durable, corrosion-resistant metal, which is covered with a layer of paint and with the help of pressing give the surface the desired shape. To heat the house, it installs wood stoves, gas boilers for solid fuel stoves. Since the installation of such equipment is technically difficult, it is trusted by professionals. However, to ensure the passage of the pipe through the metal tile and corrugated flooring is the task of the homeowner.

Types of chimneys
The chimney pipe is a hollow cylinder through which smoke and combustion products are vented to the atmosphere. Stoves use the following options for organizing this process:
- With the help of a brick chimney. The chimney system of heat-resistant bricks, designed specifically for the laying of furnaces, has a square or rectangular cross-section. This is an expensive way to get rid of smoke, however, it is safer and more durable. The only minus of a brick chimney is a porous, drained surface, on which soot and dust settle. If you do not harass regular cleaning of the pipe, soot layers completely clog it, reduce cravings and increase the risk of fire. To bring the brick chimney through the roof, so it’s better not to do this on your own.
- With the help of a metal chimney. Metal pipes made of stainless steel with the addition of molybdenum or zinc are sold in hardware stores. By purchasing straight sections, bends and clamps, you can assemble a chimney of the required configuration by inserting pipe segments into one another. The slippery inner surface of the chimney does not allow soot to accumulate, allowing air to move freely to the roof. The disadvantage of this method is that the metal does not hold heat as well as a brick, therefore, due to the temperature difference outside and inside the pipe, condensate accumulates on it. The metal chimney is made of round section, and due to the fact that it consists of individual parts, to bring it through the roof is quite simple.
Selecting the location of the output
Choosing a convenient place for making holes in the roof of corrugated pipe under the chimney - half the success. Naturally, the decisive factor in this matter is the location of the furnace. Professional stoves recommend that you place the chimney vertically, however, there are more subtle nuances:

- It is best to have a hole for the output of the chimney at the highest point of the roof, that is, closer to the ridge. The optimal distance from the ridge to the pipe is 50-80 cm.
- It is desirable that the hole in the roof of the corrugated pipe does not fall on the elements of the truss system. To get around them use taps, corner sections of the chimney. With the help of them you can set the rotation of 90 or 45 degrees.
- The length of the chimney segments is calculated in such a way that the joints are located above or below the points of passage of the ceilings and the roof of corrugated flooring. Otherwise, the quality of the connection will be problematic.
- To ensure good traction, the height of the chimney system should be 1-1.5 more than the ridge of the roof. If the pipe is too high, while passing through it, the flow of smoke will have time to cool down, which leads to the formation of condensate.
To check whether you have correctly identified the exit point of the future chimney, draw a mark on the roof of the profiled flooring and check its temperature at the end of the day - the pipe should be located in the “cold zone”, that is, remain in the shade for almost the entire day.
Preparatory stage of work
In order to avoid any difficulties during the installation of the pipe, you need to prepare the place of work and tools in advance. The hole made of corrugated cut out according to the following technology:
- After determining the configuration of the chimney, plan out where the exit to the roof will be located. Recall that it is better to place the pipe vertically.
- Pick up the size of the cross section of chimney based on the recommendations of the manufacturer of the heating device. The thicker and higher the pipe, the better the smoke is removed from the furnace. It is important that all segments be of the same section and fit together, inserted without a gap.
- On the roof of profiled sheeting outlines the contour of the pipe with a permanent marker.
- Grinders with thin wild metal cut a hole, departing from the intended line a couple of centimeters inside. Work with profiled sheeting should be carefully and slowly, so that the edge of the cut is even, without chipping, which can be injured in the process of removing the pipe.
- In the corners of the hole you need to make short cuts to bend the edges of the sheeting up.
- Weigh out the same in the ceiling. Mount the metal box that connects the pipe with the rafters. The chimney will pass through the hole inside the box, the distance between their walls should be at least 15 cm.
- Insulation, waterproofing film, vapor barrier membrane is removed from the hole made in the roof. It is necessary that the hole came through.
For the northern regions, in which the layer of insulation exceeds 150 mm, sandwich pipes are recommended, which consist of two layers of metal and heat insulation material between them.
Output chimney to the roof
All the preparatory work is done, it remains only to properly connect the pipe and put into operation the chimney. To bring the chimney to the roof:

- Insert the chimney through the hole in the box and direct it to the roof. Using adhesive tape, the edges of the waterproofing film and vapor barrier membrane are securely fixed to the surface of the chimney.
- In a box it is dense to fill up with expanded clay or to lay mineral wool. These types of insulation are not subject to fire, so they insulate the pipe and protect against sudden ignition of the wooden elements of the truss system and the batten.
- Put on the pipe rubber or silicone seal that protects against moisture leakage in the place of withdrawal. In order to provide better waterproofing, the sealant is glued to the corrugated sheet with fire-resistant sealant.
- The chimney is supplied with new segments to the required height, tightening the joints with galvanized steel clamps.
- After that, it remains only to bring beauty - set the outer apron in the color of the metal tile that covers the rubber seal and the box.

Do not be afraid of overheating of the waterproofing film from the chimney surface; mineral wool or expanded clay embedded in the box reliably protects it from fire.
Even a beginning craftsman can bring a chimney to the roof, the main thing is not to forget that neglect of this issue can lead to fire and loss of your property.
