Attic staircase with hatch itself
The desire to streamline and optimize their living space is typical for a person. And, indeed, it would not be entirely reasonable, having the opportunity to use some kind of room for life, to give it to the power of old unnecessary things and spiders. But this is how often the attic space looks. It is worth noting that this is not always due to lack of thought or laziness of the owners. Often the fact is that people simply do not know how to organize a convenient entrance / exit to this room. As one of the options may well become an attic staircase with a hatch, the characteristics of the manufacture of which will be discussed further.
Varieties

Before describing the technological aspects of the manufacture of such an element of the interior, let's talk about the types of stairs. Based on the design features, the attic version of this device can be divided into several groups.
By the type of mounting stairs can be:
- Monolithic. As a rule, these are massive and capital devices that are permanently installed. They are reliable, easy to use and safe. But at the same time they occupy a certain space, which can be considered a disadvantage in the conditions of a country house ownership.
- Complicated. Usually mounted on the attic access door, may have a different design. There are telescopic, folding, articulated and other options. Such devices are less reliable and safe than the previous version, but at the same time they are much more compact, which in some cases becomes the decisive factor.
- Attached. This could include a variety of ladders and ladders. They are safe and reliable to an even lesser degree than the type described above, moreover, they must be constantly transferred and stored somewhere, this creates some inconvenience for the operation of the attic.
Folding type is the most versatile, especially if necessary to facilitate the use of attic space and save space inside the room.
Device

The device of such a lifting structure will consist of two main components - a hatch that serves as a door separating the attic from the room, and a folding ladder attached to it.
The hatch consists of a cover and its mounting loops. A staircase usually includes several sections that, when unfolded, form a single object. Separate elements can be connected in several ways - by telescopic connection, by any hinge modules, etc.
The material can be metal (aluminum) and wooden beams. With independent production, the most acceptable option would be wood.
Fabrication and installation
For the manufacture of attic stairs with a hatch need a preparatory stage. From the tools you will need:
- yardstick;
- jigsaw or hacksaw;
- screwdriver, screwdriver, hammer;
- a pencil, marker or other writing device.
From materials you can take a thick plywood (30 mm and more), wooden beam and connecting elements, hinges, along with springs and other fasteners.

Work can begin with the manufacture of the cover. Measuring the opening leading to the attic, you need to mark a sheet of plywood. After that, we cut out the blank from the sheet and try it on the opening. If everything fits, then you can proceed to the main stage.
Note! Planning equipment attic stairs should be at the construction stage. The parameters of the hatch must be a multiple of the height from floor to ceiling. This will greatly facilitate the calculations and assembly of the structure. That is, if the ceiling height is 3 m, then the staircase leading to the top will consist of 3 sections by meter each.

To make the sections themselves is quite simple. With the help of a tape measure and a pencil, on the sidewalls (a bar or board), the installation positions of steps are measured and marked. The marking is carried out from the inside of the bars. Using the chisel, you need to select a part of the timber, to a depth of about half of its thickness. After that, a step is inserted into the grooves and is pulled through the bar through a self-tapping screw. Thus, steps of all three sections of a ladder are mounted.

Then the sections are connected to each other with hinges, and the first one is screwed to the lid. Now we fasten the entire structure in assembled form. It is possible and differently: first fix the lid, and mount the ladder already on the inside of the attic with the hatch closed.

For the convenience of opening / closing and folding the ladder, the cover can be additionally equipped with springs that will hold the hatch. As well as a string, pulling which you can open it and expand the entire three-sectional design.
