Laminate

Today the laminate is one of the most common floor materials, so on the modern market are collections from different manufacturers. The leading position is occupied by Tarkett, a European concern that was founded in Sweden. All presented products have high quality, affordable prices and unique decorative properties. The use of natural and artificial materials of the highest standard, innovative technologies and modern equipment allowed the concern to reach the international level. In order to study products, it is necessary to become familiar not only with its advantages and characteristics, but also to consider how Tarkett laminate is laid.

Floor covering 33 classes

Floor covering 33 classes

In the manufacture of laminate manufacturer adheres to generally accepted rules and standards, therefore, each class of laminate corresponds to the specified parameters of resistance to wear. A two-digit number is used for designation:

  • The first digit indicates the type of room for which the laminate is intended;
  • The second figure indicates the maximum intensity of the load.

So, on the laminate there may be a number 2, indicating residential premises, or a number 3 - commercial premises. The level of intensity of loads can be from 1 to 3.

The common class 33 laminate is used in such places:

  • Cafe;
  • the shops;
  • restaurants;
  • movie theaters;
  • shopping centers, etc.

This product provides a thick layer of protection that manufacturers impregnate with special compounds. This allows you to increase protection against moisture and noise insulation. Laminate consists of 4 layers:

  1. Upper - transparent paper with aluminum oxide, melamine.
  2. Decorative - drawing.
  3. The main - HDF with increased strength.
  4. Balancing - kraft paper impregnated with melamine resin.

Note! Laminate is produced by pressing layers, which provides resistance to chemical, thermal and mechanical stress. On this floor, you can even walk in high heels.

Main characteristics

Main characteristics

Only after studying the advantages and characteristics of the floor material can we speak with confidence about its merits. So, we can distinguish the following main characteristics:

  1. Range. Large selection of colors and patterns that accurately mimic wood. The most popular collection with an imitation of exclusive and rare woods. Thanks to modern technology, it is difficult to distinguish an artificial surface from a natural one.
  2. Durability. The high class of wear resistance speaks about the long operational term of floor material.
  3. Quality. The manufacturer guarantees the impeccable quality of its products through the use of advanced technologies.
  4. Availability. Reasonable price allows you to buy Tarkett laminate to every average resident of the country.
  5. Soundproofing. Thanks to Acoustic-TM, which is used in production, the material absorbs half of the sound waves.
  6. Naturalness The surface of the laminate has a matte finish, which, unlike the glossy, fully conveys the look of real wood.
  7. Antistatic properties. Due to their presence, it will be quite easy to care for the coating, enough wet cleaning, which takes a minimum of time.
  8. Fire Protection The upper layers of the lamellae prevent the material from igniting, therefore fallen match or cigarette butt is not terrible.
  9. Moisture resistant. Properly treated laminate does not absorb, but repels moisture, so it can be used even in rooms with high humidity levels.

Note! The main advantage of Tarkett laminate is the ease of installation, which is provided by the special X’traLoc system. Do not have to use any glue or other fasteners.

Preparatory work

Preparatory work

The ease of installation allows everyone, even a non-professional in the repair and construction area, to do all the work with their own hands, without the involvement of specialists. Enough to read the manufacturer's instructions, as well as take into account a few tips and requirements.

It is necessary to start from the bottom, as the result will depend on it. So, the base under the laminate should be perfectly smooth and clean. Availability is not allowed:

  • cracks;
  • floor curvature;
  • chips;
  • the slopes.

To prepare the surface for laying a laminated coating, you need to know the information:

  • about sealing sedimentary seams;
  • about the thickness of the pie layer floor and insulation;
  • about used solutions.

To analyze the state of the original surface, it is necessary to conduct an assessment. For this it is recommended to use:

  • two-meter rail with a measuring wedge (horizontal floor);
  • instruments for measuring humidity and temperature;
  • device for measuring the strength of the base.

If there are deviations from the standard indicators, it is necessary to eliminate the shortcomings, since if they are ignored, the laminate can quickly fail. To align the surface, you must perform a tie, which solves several tasks at the same time:

  • base leveling;
  • load distribution;
  • warming;
  • structural reinforcement.

Note! To obtain a flooring without defects in the form of a squeak and with a long operational period, it is necessary to properly prepare the base.

Instructions for laying

Instructions for laying

For installation of each type of laminate there is an instruction from the manufacturer. In the case of Tarkett products, recommendations are also provided. So, 90% of a laminate is a tree, therefore it is necessary to adhere to some conditions, namely:

  1. The temperature of the prepared base - 15 ° C.
  2. Room temperature - up to 24 ° C.
  3. Humidity with screed - 5%, with a wooden base - 12%.
  4. Humidity in the room from 30 to 60%.

A special substrate is laid on the prepared base and fixed with the help of scotch tape. It is recommended to begin installation from left to right from the far wall. From all sides between the walls and the floor material it is necessary to leave a small gap. For convenience, use wedges.

Clearance from the wall

The best scheme for laying laminate is "chess": each successive row will move half the board from the previous one. The X’traLoc universal fastening system will allow Tarkett laminate to be laid more than once. After completing the installation in the whole room, wipe the entire surface with a dry soft cloth and fix the baseboard.

Laying laminate chess order

It is worth highlighting another important piece of advice from the experts: you need to carefully inspect all planks before proceeding with their installation. Manufacturers do not extend the guarantee of quality on the mounted floor with defects, and individual strips can be safely returned to the store for exchange.

Note! The gap between the wall and the laminate is left in order for the boards to easily expand and taper depending on the time of year. Otherwise, when expanded, the whole structure will break.

As you can see, it is very easy to lay the Tarkett laminate in the same way that the modern X’traLoc lock system allows you to handle the process yourself. After installing the flooring, the joints are practically invisible, which results in a flat and smooth surface.
