How to fix laminate on the wall

Laminate was originally developed as a floor covering. However, the desire to create a unique interior led to the fact that it began to be used as a finishing material for the walls. Why laminate?

Today the laminate has turned into a universal covering that sheathes not only the floor, but also the walls, and even the ceiling. The fact is that it has several advantages compared with other materials for wall finishing, such as PVC and MDF panels. Let's talk about the merits in more detail.

First, laminate is a very durable material that has high wear resistance. For this reason, he will hold on to the walls for a long time. Secondly, cost savings. Despite the fact that laminate flooring is expensive, on average it will cost 1.5 times more expensive than conventional MDF panels, for walls you can use low-grade laminate. Such a coating will still last longer than the highest quality wall panels.

Even with minor fluctuations in temperature, the panels swell or shrink in size, which leads to the destruction of the adhesive bond.

Glue must be of high quality. You can use liquid nails or a special compound designed for gluing panels.

Using the frame

You can build a frame of profiles or wooden bars, which will be attached to the canvas. First, decide how you will lay the laminate: horizontally or vertically. From this will hang the construction of crates. For horizontal laying of the strips it is required to vertically assemble the frame, and for the vertical - horizontally.

After installation, the battens start directly on the laminate flooring. It is fixed using special brackets - cleats, and then fixed with a construction stapler. This method is considered the best, since the fastening created by the clips is mobile, which means that temperature fluctuations will not be detrimental to the laminate, which, as noted, reacts to a change in the microclimate in the room.
