What to cover the floor on the balcony
For city dwellers, owners of standard apartments in high-rise buildings, a balcony and a loggia are a favorite place where you can go out for a breath of fresh air and admire the panorama of the city. In the warm season, you can sit there with a book in hand or tea with the household. To create such an atmosphere, you need to properly assess the situation and decide which floor to make on the balcony. Let's consider the possible options for materials for such work.
Repair of balcony floors should be performed taking into account two factors:
- Will your balcony be open or glazed?
- What means do you have to choose the best coverage?
If you want to get a good and high-quality result, construction work should be carried out in stages.
Where better to start
Important is the process of initial preparation of the surface of floors for future work. First you have to get rid of the old coating with such simple tools as a chisel with a hammer.
Note! If you have an open loggia or balcony, then it is better to take care of laying the floors on the balcony during the warm season. Of course, you can do it in cold weather, but then you have to spend money on more expensive materials to level the surface.
Material selection
Options for purchased building materials will depend on the type of balcony or loggia:
- for open types laying tile is more suitable,
- and on the glassed-in balcony you can make wooden floors, followed by painting or laying linoleum.
Tile laying
This is a universal version of the material, it is well suited for any kind of balconies and loggias. And before covering the floor on the balcony with tiles, it is necessary to carry out the preparatory work.
- At first, as is customary in any work, the floor is clean.
- Then on it the waterproofing film with a heater keeps within. The thickness of the insulation layer depends on the height, which is planned for the floor surface in the future.
- At the thus obtained coating pour cement mortar.
- After drying, the surface is treated with special glue and tile is laid on it.
- In order to get a flat surface, laying of tiles is carried out with the use of regulating crosses, the seams after laying must be sealed with a special grout.
Обратите внимание! Tile laying на пол балкона очень удобна для открытых дачных мансард, потому что такое покрытие отлично переносит любые перепады температур, главное – правильно подобрать плиточный клей.
Tiles are all considered very durable and durable material, the surface of which is easy to clean and repair. But it has one drawback - it has a very cold surface. This can be eliminated by installing underfloor heating.
Laying wooden floors on the balcony
Before installing a wooden floor, it is necessary to level its surface, since the presence of even small minor irregularities later can lead to disastrous results.
For leveling cement-sand screed is used, followed by cleaning debris. In a residential area, 5-6 millimeter tie is enough. After that, alignment with a special solution is recommended. After laying waterproofing film, then the installation process is lagging. In this case they will allow to raise the level of the floor and insulate it.
Between the floor and lags placed insulation. On the draft layer is the flooring of the cut boards, which must be impregnated with a protective composition. After drying, the wooden floor can be painted with paint or varnish, of your choice.
Note! The variant with wooden floors is convenient because you can put an additional coating on it - linoleum or carpet.
Some more options
The above methods are considered a budget option, and if we talk about more expensive materials, then for laying the floor fit: granite, marble, decorative stone or cork.
Also, the flooring can be made of MDF and chipboard, this option will be cheaper. The technology of surface preparation is the same as when working with laying wooden floor. Plates are attached to the logs with self-tapping screws and are necessarily treated with protective compounds.
A bit of granite and marble
These are very durable and heavy materials, and therefore they can only be used on loggias. Such materials are considered to be cold; during their installation, you will need to take extra care of the floor heating system.
Cork
This is a kind of decorative coating and it looks very attractive. But if he does not take care of his protection, then in three years this floor will turn into dust, because the cork is very sensitive to moisture.
Before you decide what to lay on the floor of the balcony, and in the future not to be disappointed in this, you need to take into account all the components of future work.
