Replacing the floors yourself
There is nothing eternal in this world. This also applies to floors. No matter how high quality they were from the very beginning, it will be necessary to replace floors in an apartment. This event is inevitable, but replacing the floors in the apartment not only helps save a lot of money, but also forces.
Most likely, after a while and you have to do this important stage of repair work.
Reasons for replacing floors
The reasons that push for the decision to replace the old floor in the premises of the apartment can be counted on the fingers, but if they are significant, repairs will have to be done. In many apartments and houses there is a wooden covering, the service life of which is not very long. Gender is desirable to change in certain situations, which we now consider:
- On the boards along the length appeared a lot of cracks. This indicates that the material has strongly cracked, and, although it still seems reliable, the board will begin to disintegrate in the near future. To do this, it is not necessary to have a dozen cracks on the surface of the board - this amount is enough for the entire floor to take on a replacement. The cracking of floorboards occurs mainly due to the improper climate regime, which is maintained indoors for a long time, and because of this, the board gradually dries out.
- The floor in the apartment should be replaced if parts of the wood begin to fall off. This fact indicates that the floor is at the stage of decay, it becomes rotten and disintegrates.
The creaking of floorboards is the smallest problem that can be tackled at the local level. This fact does not mean that the boards from old age have become unsuitable - the floorboards can rub against each other due to the weakening of the fastening elements, which can be fixed. In any case, it is advisable to make sure that the floor is in good condition. You need to tear off a few boards in the place of the squeak and make an inspection of the log. If they are rotten, then the floor must still be changed.
Replacing the floor in the apartment
To dismantle the old wooden floor will need a hammer and a hammer. These tools break unsuitable boards. All old construction is removed down to the floor slab. Now you need to decide what new floor will be laid instead of the old one. It is logical that the floor should be replaced with a similar one. The exception may be the floors in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet, where a tiled surface may be an adequate option, the basis for which is better to make more durable.
- First lags are laid on the clean floor. The step between them is selected based on the thickness of the flooring boards, and on average is about 0.7 m. All logs should be clearly oriented horizontally. To align the elements used slats.
- After the lags form a single flat plane, U-shaped brackets are used to fasten them to the ceiling. The principle of fixation is the same as when fixing plasterboard profiles, only in the opposite direction.
- At the end of the fit flooring sheets of OSB or boards. If the distance between the lags is 0.4 m, then OSB panels with a minimum thickness of 15–18 mm should be used. If the lags are located at a distance of 0.5 m from each other, then the OSB panels should be 18–22 mm thick, and at 60 cm - at least 25 mm.
- Replacing the wooden floor is easier, but the work will be more laborious. Each board will need to be customized according to size. In addition, the connection of boards outside the lag is not allowed.
- Still, OSB plates are more practical. If the floor is made from them, no further processing is necessary. On them, without additional work can be laid parquet, laminate or linoleum.
Note! In order for the flooring to be ventilated along the contour of the room, it is necessary to leave a gap of about 5 mm, which at the end will be closed by the plinth.
If this option is not suitable for any reason, you can drill a hole in the floor in invisible places of opposite corners.
