How to adjust the warm water floors
In many new homes, water floor heating is increasingly being used as the main heating. But in some cases, floor heating is additional to the main radiator. The coolant temperature for the radiator system is usually up to 70 ° C. For a warm floor, the temperature should be equal to 35–55 ° C (for this reason, a warm floor is called a low-temperature system). Given this, it is important to know how to regulate warm water floors, because the temperature drop is significant.
The heat carrier supplied to the radiators is very hot for a heated floor. Although there is one convention in which this is possible. The floor area is increased several times, respectively, significantly increasing the cost of its installation and the purchase of material. Therefore, the best option is to individually control and adjust the temperature of the coolant for a system of warm water floor. In this article we will discuss with you several such methods.
A room with a large and small area
When the heated area is too large, the mixing valves are installed. Their installation is performed directly in the boiler room. Thus, the heated coolant, for example, up to 65 ° C, is fed into the radiator and simultaneously to the three-way valve. With the passage of coolant through the mixing valve reaches the required temperature for underfloor heating.
Note! If the coolant temperature for radiators exceeds the mark of 75 ° C, then lowering the temperature is carried out by a two-step method. Four-way and three-way valves are used at the same time. They are installed on the pitch.
As for small heated areas, in addition, you can use the Unibox adjustment module. Through it, you can adjust the temperature of the coolant to a predetermined temperature. The Unibox module has the following configuration:

Simple temperature adjustment method
One of the simplest methods of temperature control is to install floor heating pipes with operating temperatures up to 95 °. For this purpose, a pump and a check valve are installed for flow. Temperature decreases due to cooled return. If the temperature in the return line rises, the thermostat gives a signal and the pump shuts off, thus the hot water supply stops. The system is in standby mode until the return line has cooled again. Warm floors giving off heat cool the coolant. After that, the pump restarts and a new portion of the hot coolant flows.
Note! This method of adjusting the temperature of the coolant in a water system is considered the cheapest and at the same time reliable option.
Application of the mixing module
Another method of adjusting a warm water floor is to install a mixing module. It has such a complete set:
- Three-way valve.
- Bypass.
- Pump.
- Thermometer.
- Maximum temperature switch.
- Thermostatic head.
Note! Although in aggregate, this equipment is very expensive, its efficiency fully pays for it. This complete set completely corresponds to the European sample. The radiator system is supported t 65 °C, and on heat-insulated floors the heat carrier with the set temperature arrives.
In our country, in most cases, temperature adjustment is performed through the boiler, which causes certain inconveniences, namely, temperature “chaos” occurs. It is very difficult to derive an average figure for radiators and a warm water floor. Therefore, the use of a mixing module is a valid and effective means of how to regulate the temperature.
