Welded gates and gates for summer cottage as an alternative

Surely many owners of the garden often paid attention to the beautiful wrought-iron gates of their neighbor. But such greatness and grace are not small, forged products, as a rule, are not affordable for everyone. But there is an excellent alternative, which for some reason does not pay attention.

The fence or entrance gates welded from metal look no worse than the same handmade designs. And how beautiful are the wickets made using a conventional welding machine, and notice the price of such products is much lower than forged structures. We will talk about such constructions today.

Welded structures are always relevant

Today, a variety of construction tools allows any owner to organize his own workshop in his private house. Usually there is a welding machine in such a workshop.

Now, when you decide to upgrade the look of your fence, or change the old wooden entrance door in the gate, you should definitely weld the gate with your own hands. Your welding machine will help you with this and, as they say, its time has come.

You can use different materials for decorating

But what benefits and why it is better to make a new input structure from metal rather than from wood, for example? Here are strong arguments in favor of such products, which is simply illogical to resist:

• The cost of the material, the metal is really cheaper compared to wood. Take, for example, a profile pipe, the cost of one meter of this material is lower than the meter of a cut board or bar.
• Durability and strength, wooden structures also have such qualities, but they cannot be compared with metal ones.
• Various decoration options, finished welded wicket can be refined with almost any material. It can be sheathed with wood in various combinations, you can simply close the sheet metal.

The idea is, bring it to life

In order for you to get something original, you need to jot down on paper a preliminary view of a product with a pattern, ornament or just a solid construction. Be sure to note the exact dimensions and use this drawing in the process.

Drawing up a work plan is the very first item in the answer to the question of how to weld a gate (for example, for a stone, wooden or wrought iron fence). Next you need to prepare a tool that will be needed in the work.

1. Welding machine, we already know that you have it, but if not, then you can ask it from your friend or neighbor.
2. Welding mask, electrodes. As for the electrodes, it is better to buy them of different diameters, since it is necessary to boil the metal of different thickness.
3. Measuring instruments, building level, tape measure, ninety-degree corner. Chalk to make marks on the metal.
4. Cement, sand, crushed stone. The finished structure must be properly concreted so that it stands firmly in its place.

Important! Instructions for the manufacture of metal products strongly recommends to carry out the assembly of such products on a flat plane. Before you start work, find a suitable level space on your site. This will allow you to avoid irregularities and distortions during assembly.

We assemble the frame of the gate

So, according to the compiled drawing, you can proceed to the assembly of the structural frame, for carrying out the work, we recommend using a profile pipe measuring 60 by 30 millimeters. But you can use a different size, at this stage it does not matter.

First we weld the outer frame, which will serve as the basis of the whole structure. When finished with the frame, you can proceed to the assembly of the so-called box on which your door will hold.

We have almost figured out the question of how to properly weld the gate, and there is not much work left to make it. It remains to assemble the box design and the gate is ready.

Remember that side racks that will be buried in the ground should be larger by a meter. This is exactly the part that will be in the ground, if you get too long racks they can always be cut by the grinder.

Install the hinges and lock mount

Having ready-made components you need to immediately weld the hinges, you need to install them before you bury the box in the ground. To do this, you just need to lay the door in the opening of the box and grab our hinges in place.

After mounting the hinges, welding joints should be cleaned.

When installing in this way, install inserts along the entire perimeter of the door; this can be a sheet of metal of three millimeters, or ordinary cardboard folded in half. So you protect yourself from the frame shift, and after installing the hinges, the door will open without interference.

Like all doorways, welded gates usually also have a lock, because when leaving home, you have to close your cottage with a key. Now is the time to make a place for the castle.

For this we need two pieces of sheet metal, they will serve as a platform for fastening the lock. They need to be welded at a height of ninety centimeters from the bottom of the doorway.

We do not know which lock you choose, so we cannot say the exact dimensions of the lock plates, but they should be slightly larger than the body of the door lock itself.

We ennoble the gate

So the time has come when you can improve your gate. For these purposes, you can use a very convenient material, profiled. It is easily mounted, and will look original on any design.

Welded patterns are used as decor.

Wood paneling will look very good, if you work a little and cut an ornament in the board, you will get a quality decorated door in the collection. Even a simple board lining can turn a nondescript construction into a masterpiece.
