Fence

Fence of corrugated

After buying your home or cottage, often the first question is the replacement and construction of a reliable fence. Now the fence should not only protect your land from uninvited guests, but also have high reliability, durability and beautiful appearance. In this article we will tell you how to make a fence from metal profiles with your own hands.

What is a metal profile for the fence? This is a sheet material of galvanized steel, which, after rolling through a special machine, receives stiffening ribs and is then processed with polymer. Using this material:

  • sheathed facades;
  • hangars quickly built;
  • construct fences and other buildings.

Material selection

When purchasing, pay attention to the marking of the material, metal for the fence should have the prefix "C", that is, wall.

The following profile options are most popular:

  • C8 is the most economical option. This type has a small trapezoid height, and a large width allows you to minimize the number of scraps. The width of the sheet is 1.15 m.
  • C20 - the most acceptable option in terms of price / quality. Unlike C21, the use of this type will save 10% of the material due to the width of the sheets (1.1 m). The dimensions of the ribs provide sufficient strength and wind resistance.
  • C21 - has a usable sheet width of 1 m, which facilitates the calculation of materials and design. It has the highest height of the ribs, so the sheets have the greatest rigidity.

Metal profiles on the fence are usually bought with a thickness of 0.5 mm and a height of 2 m.

The quality of the material depends on the thickness of the zinc layer and the thickness and type of polymer used. Quality profiled must meet the requirements that are described in GOST 24045-2010.

The advantages of the metal profile

Fences with metal profiles have the following advantages:

  • Quick and easy installation process that can compensate for unevenness.
  • Low material cost and high efficiency.
  • Durability of the material. The polymer layer perfectly protects the metal from corrosion, but if it is damaged, rust can appear.
  • Low weight, therefore, less load on support columns.
  • A wide range of colors allows you to choose a shade to match the color of the facade.
  • Not demanding care.

Modern colors of metal profiles for the fence have a large selection

Required materials for construction

To build metal profile fences with your own hands you will need the following elements:

  • Profiled sheet;
  • Support - round or square pipes, brick and stone pillars;
  • Guide lags - transverse horizontally fixed tubes that increase the rigidity of the structure and serve to fasten the plating;
  • Fastening - you can use regular screws with a press washer, but roofing screws will look more imperceptible, as they have colored hats.
  • Concrete mix: cement, sand, gravel;

In addition, you should take care in advance about the presence of a drill for the ground, a screwdriver and a welding machine, without them the construction work will be more difficult.

Elements of the fence from metal profile

Fence construction

First you need to mark the place of installation of the pillars. To do this, measure the length of the perimeter of the site and divide it by the size of the span of the fence to get the number of pillars. Optimally place them every 2-3 meters.

After counting, we drive the pegs into the positions of the pillars, for this we stretch the rope between the corner stakes. Using a tape measure, we maintain a uniform indentation and make markup. Do not forget about the installation of gates and doors.

Pillar installation

The height of the supporting pillars depends on the type of profiled flooring for the fence and your desire. To install the pipes you need to drill holes with a depth equal to 1/3 the height of the pole.

It is necessary to install poles vertically in level, and so that after installation the fence is not loose, we must concrete them. To prepare the solution, mix cement, sand and crushed stone in proportions of 1: 2: 3, respectively. Before pouring concrete, we knit around a layer of reinforcement and, if necessary, put the formwork.

Concreting pillars with formwork

In addition, to get a beautiful effect, often the pillars are tied together by a foundation or brickwork, and the skin rises above ground level. This solution is especially effective on slopes where large gaps are unavoidable when attaching cladding sheets (Learn also how to install and protect wooden fence posts from rotting).

Tip! If your site has a sloping topography, in order to properly fix the sheets of metal profiles, you need to fix the logs parallel to the ground, and the sheets should be fixed in a stepwise manner. Thus, one of the corners of the sheet will be fixed close to the ground, and the opposite - to hang indented.

How to build a fence on a slope you can see in the photo:

Another cheaper way to securely mount the pillars is to stitch them. To do this, stones, rubble, scrap bricks are thrown into the pit by a third.

Top sand is poured and tightly rammed. The remaining space is filled with cement mortar.

Lag mount

After about 3 days, when the cement hardens, you can continue working. We connect columns with horizontal lintels of rectangular shaped tubes.

Usually 2 parallel rows are enough, but if you build a high fence, then we increase the number of guides. For their fastening is best to use welding.

Horizontal lag mount

Sheathing fence

The final stage of our construction will be frame trimming. Fasten the sheets overlapping face to the street. In addition to the above screws, can be used for fastening the rivet.

Work in gloves and be careful, the edges of the metal profiles have sharp corners.

Tip! In order to extend the service life of the support pillars, we pre-treat the metal elements with a primer and cover them with 2 layers of paint. The upper ends of the pipes must be closed from water penetration with a visor or brew.
