Reinforced concrete slab fence - time-tested reliability

05-07-2018
Fence

And let the Japanese consider their first contribution to the development of humanity in the 20th century - fast-cooking noodles, the builders are more serious and the invention of reinforced concrete is considered the greatest achievement of the last century in their field.

Having, until the middle of the century, a special purpose for the most part, reinforced concrete then solemnly entered the “wide road” - now there are 2 or even 3 concrete products plants in each city. Prominent among these products occupy reinforced concrete slabs for the fence.

Such a fence made of concrete slabs is found everywhere, it is ideal for urban environments.

Reinforced concrete as a versatile material

Although the basis is such a one-piece construction made by the method of vibro-cassette casting.

The range of plates is just huge and let's see what the one who decided to build a reinforced concrete fence has to deal with:

  • First of all, you can use the plates that were already in use. There were so many of them that over time their surplus formed. Began to appear new technologies. The former reinforced concrete fences are being replaced with new, more presentable ones, made of stone, plastic, wood, metal. If your main goal is fencing and protection, then boulder slabs are quite suitable for almost nothing.
  • Secondly, you can take advantage of solid new designs, which simply represent a single slab with a height from 2 to 4 meters, having built-in poles from the vertical ends, you will need only glasses to install.
  • Thirdly, at your disposal prefabricated reinforced concrete structures of fences. In this situation, the entire plane of the passage of the fence is divided into 3 (more often, although there are no special restrictions) horizontal levels. Mounted separately pillars and 3 levels of plates are simply inserted from above into the grooves of the pillars.

For the vast majority of tasks, well-used concrete intake slabs that have not yet served their time are suitable.

What "takes" reinforced concrete

Actually you should not be surprised that concrete slabs for the fence are so popular, because they:

  • Very durable and able to withstand the most extreme loads even of a mechanical nature. Well, it's the same - "iron in concrete."
  • Easy to manufacture, however, given the streamlined production.
  • They have a huge range, both in size and it should not be surprising in design.
  • Made from a material that is perfectly suitable for plastering and paintwork, therefore, it will not be difficult to restore the condition of the fence or change its appearance.
  • They have a well-established installation technology and sufficiently qualified personnel for this, unlike, say, metal fences or siding fences.

Helpful advice! When installing, be sure to observe the strength characteristics of the entire assembly of your fence. They must strictly match each other.

In the situation with reinforced concrete fences, the strength characteristics determine reinforced concrete fence plates. They must comply with the first installed pillars. The situation is unacceptable when the pillars are able to withstand only the load of corrugated flooring, and they are “offered” reinforced concrete.

In addition, it is very important to observe the principles of the distribution of the vertical load on the pillars. Vertical load should decrease from bottom to top. If the span is assembly, only light decoration panels are installed on the upper level.

Marking and dimensions

As a matter of fact, there is no uniform standard of plates. Each concrete product plant is free to develop its own design, register it according to the rules for design of building materials and offer it on the market. But there are, nevertheless, the most "running" designs and sizes, which the majority tries to adhere to.

Running size

The most common dimensions are (width x height x thickness, weight in kilograms is also indicated in brackets, which is important for reinforced concrete):

  • PKN-60 × 20 plate - 6000 x 2000 x 60 (1800);
  • PKN-60 × 15 - 6000 x 1500 x 60 (1350);
  • PKN-60 × 10 - 6000 x 1000 x 60 (900);
  • PKN-60 × 8 - 6000 x 800 x 60 (680).

Such plates can be installed by selecting the appropriate columns. But more popular are the stove-pillar combinations.

Among these, you need to focus on the following characteristics:

The main "fastening" element of the plates is such a reinforced concrete glass

  • ПЗ-60 × 24 - 6000 x 2400 x 60 (1880);
  • ПЗ-60 × 20 - 6000 x 2000 x 60 (1800);
  • ПЗ-60 × 15 - 6000 x 1500 x 60 (1130);
  • ПЗ-60 × 10 - 6000 x 1000 x 60 (750).

And the corresponding columns (height x section width x section length, weight in kilograms):

  • Студен КОГ-1,7 - 1700 x 250 x 250 (250);
  • Студен КОГ-2,7 - 2700 x 250 x 250 (350);
  • Студен КОГ-3.2 - 3200 x 250 x 250 (430);
  • Студен КОГ-3.8 - 3800 x 250 x 250 (500);
  • Студио СОГ-4,4 - 4400 x 250 x 250 (580).

Preferred design

Even in such a field as reinforced concrete fences have their own preferences. Recently, an extremely reliable construction has come to the fore - a plate with "cast" pillars inserted into a massive reinforced concrete cup.

The dimensions of this combination are as follows:

  • braid P6Ba-1 - 3980 x 2910 (2500) x 160 (2050);
  • the corresponding glass - Э-5 - 1200 x 700 x 400 (475);
  • P5-VK - 3980 x 2900 (2200) x 160 (1650);
  • FS-1 - 1000 x 770 x 530 (590);
  • П6Ва – 3980 x 2550 (2200) x 160 (1600);
  • О-1 – 600 x 600 x 400 (250);
  • ZP 400-8 - 4000 x 2550 (2200) x 160 (1630);
  • ФЗП 1-1 – 1200 x 760 x 310 (300).

Despite a very decent weight and size, reinforced concrete fence plates in the stored form take up very little space, and regardless of the design and design features

In brackets, after the height, the height is specified without taking into account the leg inserted into the glass. Thus, for the P6Ba-1 and E-5 models, the height of the leg (or the required glass depth, no less) is 410 millimeters (2910 minus 2500).

Reinforced concrete slabs allow you to create prefabricated structures

Helpful advice! In most cases, the installation of reinforced concrete fences can be carried out without the use of welding. But if it is needed, be sure to purchase slabs with an already completed cleavage from four sides to access the iron-based fence.

In any case, if there is no such cleavage, you will have to carefully perform it yourself, specifying in advance the exact passage of the core inside. In no case do not leave "for joy" welding in the open air - the fastener will need to be processed with anti-corrosion, paint over and concrete again.

Conclusion

Installing a reinforced concrete fence is not a matter of one day, and with the involvement of special lifting equipment, you can't do it yourself. Therefore, approach all the works very meticulously, accurately plan their entire course, get acquainted with all the materials available to you - installation instructions and photos of the final options can be very useful here.

The cost of an error will be quite high, especially considering that you don’t have a right to a mistake of collapsing a fence in principle.

Skillfully chosen colors, and compliance with the principles of load vertical structures will increase the height of the fence and not forget about its appearance
