How to make a fence. principles of installation
In this article we will discuss the basic principles of installation of fences that will help you not only to protect your estate, but also to do crafts. After all, how to make a fence from paper with your own hands, if you do not know how this is actually done? So, having penetrated into the essence of the installation of such structures, you can do construction, as well as make layouts.

Ways of mounting fences
All fences can be divided into independent or portable and capital fences, which are fixed in the soil. There is also a difference in fastening sections in the spans between the supports, as well as the difference in the installation of the supports themselves. We will talk about all this now and also see the video in this article.
Mounting options

Tarred round timber for fencing
- So, in order to understand how a fence is made, you need to have an idea about its foundation, that is, supports, and in this case we are talking about wooden posts. Such racks can be with a pointed butt and not, depending on the method of installation (driving or digging). So that the butt does not pull moisture and rot, it is treated with resin or solid automotive lubricants.

Metal fence posts
- Metal supports are much stronger than wooden ones and are made of a square, rectangular or round profile, to which brackets are welded in the form of ears (this is highlighted in the top photo). Moisture for hardware is also the number one enemy, so the butt of the support is necessarily treated with a GF-type primer, but sometimes it is additionally lubricated with solid automotive lubricants.

Concrete supports of different configurations
- Concrete posts for fences are very common, which are cast for different types of loads and sometimes decorated with some kind of ornament. The support itself is strong enough, has a reinforcing cage in the middle and, on the basis of their concrete properties, can last 98 years (49 years the concrete hardens and 49 years the process occurs in the opposite direction). Sometimes the brackets are inlaid into a pillar, and sometimes mortgages are welded to the armakarkas, to which you can later attach a console.

Installation of brick support for the fence
- Also, the support for the fence can be made of silicate, red and decorative bricks, but it is laid out not autonomously, but on the basis of a concrete or metal pillar that performs the function of a rod. Sometimes the reinforcing frame is made of steel wire and / or reinforcement, inserting it into the center. Then a cement solution is poured between the core and the brick casing.

Caps for brick supports
Council For brick pillars, special caps are made, which serve not only as decoration, but also protect the structure from direct water (rain, snow). This increases their lifespan.
- But how to make a fence, if you do not know how to install its base, because it is a vertical structure, which, moreover, must withstand certain loads over a long period. Therefore, for different types of poles and fences there are four main ways of mounting vertical posts.

Installation methods of supports for fencing
- Method of driving or burying a support in the ground without any additional methods of fastening. After 2-3 years, the soil sags under the influence of precipitation and the pedestal warps along with the fence. Such an installation is good for temporary structures, which carry around construction sites or production facilities.
- Half-filled with cement mortar pillar gives it good stability and can withstand heavy loads. The problem exists for metal and wood, since the lower part of the butt remains unprotected from moisture, so additional precautions are needed for such supports (waterproofing).
- The method of fixing the column with crushed stone, gravel and / or solid construction debris with subsequent tamping makes the support stable and capable of withstanding heavy loads. However, the access of moisture from the subsoil waters and precipitation remains to the water, therefore waterproofing is necessary for metal and wood.
- The most reliable method can be called the pouring of the pillar foundation when the butt is completely immersed in the cement mortar. This option is suitable for any fence, with any degree of load and from any material.
Tips for installing supports. The depth of immersion in the soil can be from 60 to 100 cm - everything will depend on the upcoming load, the hardness of the soil and the presence of the pillar foundation. When installing metal poles, the lower end, as a rule, remains open and ground water freely penetrates into it, even when the pillar foundation is poured. Therefore, the profile should be closed with a waterproofing bottom or blow foam.
Span mounting

Shelf
- Very often, homemade fences are mounted in the form of a picket fence, as the simplest and cheapest version of fencing. But before you begin to pin the fence, between the exactly installed supports are mounted jumpers or logs from a wooden bar or metal profile. Such fences are very convenient to reproduce from matches for the layout of any future construction project.

Boardwalk fence
- But the board fence can be mounted not only on the girders - sometimes the board is mounted vertically, fixing it directly to the supports. Decorative, and very beautiful, version of this method of installation is done by interweaving boards with poles. For this, in addition to the main ones, additional vertical posts are installed, which serve as a kind of intersection points.

Mesh section
- Among the transparent fences, the chain-link net is popular, which can be mounted on supports in the form of sections (the grid is framed by a metal corner) or, like a canvas, is fixed directly to the uprights. Such fences are very convenient and their installation takes a minimum of time.

Mesh installation
Council When mounting the netting chain-link in the form of a cloth in the upper cells, it is necessary to pass a thick wire and fix it to the supports after proper tension. Otherwise, the fence in a year or two will begin to sag, because the cells stretch out.

Brick and corrugated fence
- The so-called home-made fences now began to equip from corrugated board, as a durable material that has a long service life. For attaching sheets, bolts (lags) from a wooden bar or metal profile are needed. The moment of fixation is carried out by roofing screws on wood or metal, the heads of which can have any color according to the RAL table and, as a result, merge with the background of the sheet.

Polycarbonate fencing
- Transparent fences are made from polycarbonate - it is convenient to reproduce such constructions on construction layouts using transparent plastic for crafts. Most often for the basis in such cases the metal framework from a profile on which sheets are attached with screws is used.

Decorative brick fencing with wrought openwork wreath
- Brick or stone fences are mounted on a strip foundation between homogeneous supports that stand on a pillar foundation. This is perhaps the most powerful domestic protective structure, besides having the longest service life. The finishing of fences of this type is made by various types of bricks and / or decorative natural and artificial stone.

Forged openwork grille
- Probably, the most exquisite transparent fences can be called constructions of the gratings made by the method of artistic forging or welding (see also the article Forged fences: sketches, designs and manufacturing). The price of some copies can be calculated in huge numbers, as it is of artistic and historical value. The cost of modern forged fences is also large enough, but this is justified by their durability and beauty.
Conclusion
Understanding how to make a fence with your own hands, you can also reproduce such a fence on the layout for any construction project. This can be very important if you want to build your own house, because proper planning has always been the key to successful completion.
