Choosing fences for a private house: traditions and
Fences for private houses today can be very different. If you set aside some time, and drive through the private sector, you can see both the usual structures of wood or profiled metal, as well as individual design forged fences, fences of transparent and translucent plastic, combined fences, etc.
Each type of fence has its own advantages, and therefore we decided to devote a separate article to the review of the fences most suitable for a private house.

Original fence design
Standards installation fences
When installing the fence in a private house, you must remember that its parameters, as well as the distance from the fence to different objects, are determined by a number of regulatory documents. In some localities, the observance of these standards is viewed "through the fingers", while in others even a few centimeters of retreat can lead to serious consequences.
The standards for the installation of the fence in the private sector are regulated by SNiP 30-02-97. This document defines the procedure for the construction of private households, and one of its sections is entirely devoted to the regulation of fencing issues.

Rationing distances
The most important provisions of SNiP30-02-97 are the data defining the distance from the fence to other objects:
- There must be at least 3 m between the fence and the dwelling house.
- From the hedge to the outbuildings, you need to maintain a distance of 1 m, and to rooms in which pets and poultry are kept - 4 m or more.
- Also legally determined the distance from the fence to green spaces. Shrubs can be planted no closer than a meter from the total fence, low trees - no closer than 2 m, and tall should be placed at least 4 meters from the fence.

The outer fence should not be higher than 2 m
At the same time, there are requirements for the fence itself:
- The maximum height of the fence between adjacent areas is 1.5 m.
Note! The fence between the two households should not be made solid, as this will lead to shading the surrounding area.
- The outer fence should be no higher than 2 meters. If you want to build a higher structure, you should coordinate the project with local authorities.
From all of the above, you can make one fairly simple conclusion: before building a fence, you should carefully consider its placement and construction, otherwise there may be problems with neighbors and the administration.
Types of enclosing structures
Wooden fences
Wooden fencing is a classic option in the design of most country houses.
Types of wooden fences include:
- Shelters - the most common type. They can be either purely decorative (up to 50 cm high) or quite functional (1-1.5 m).
- Shield fencing. Provide the most effective protection from outside views and penetration from the outside, but at the same time unduly obscure the territory.
- wallpaper. Combine protective and decorative characteristics, while differing in small mass. In addition, the hedge trellis sunshine reasonably well, because they are often placed in front gardens with flowers.

Solid wooden fence
Wooden fences are beautiful, durable enough and relatively easy to build with their own hands. The main difficulty in their operation is protecting the wood from rotting and hitting wood borers: in order to serve the fence for a long time, it must be periodically subjected to antibacterial and antifungal treatment.
Metal fences
Metal fences are divided into two large groups:
- Solid.
- Grid.
Below we look at the features of these types:
- Solid enclosing structures are a carrier system, on which metal panels of profiled sheet are installed.
- Wooden poles concreted in the ground or metal pipes for the fence can act as a carrier system, as well as brick cabinets, laid around the reinforcement embedded in the soil.

Decorative brick support structures
Tip! The bassoons of bassoon or other decorative material look more aesthetically pleasing. Examples of such supports you can see in the photo and video in this article.
- Horizontal logs are attached to the supports, on which the metal lining is fixed.
- Lattice metal fences are also installed on the supporting frame, but not a corrugated sheet or sheet metal, but a grid of welded rods or metal mesh is used as a fill.
- The most attractive look forged fences, in which the filling rods are bent and joined manually to form a decorative ornament.
- In contrast to wrought, the cheapest fences are made of mesh-chain-link. It, of course, looks completely unattractive, but it reliably protects your site from any penetration.

Concrete Fences

Solid and decorative molded cement panels
Previously, concrete panels were used exclusively for the protection of industrial facilities.
But today, with the advent of technologies that make it possible to manufacture decorative slabs of high-quality cement, this type of fence has become available for private house owners:
- The basis of such a fence are the pillars, fixed and concreted in the ground.
- Concrete slabs are installed between the pillars. In this case, the decorative side of the panel in most cases is oriented towards the street.
- If you do not want to see in your yard an unaesthetic seamy surface of a cement slab, then you can install a double-sided fence. Their price, of course, is somewhat higher, but such a fence looks much more attractive than a one-sided one.
The advantages of concrete fences include high strength and durability. As for the appearance, only quite expensive models can boast of attractiveness, the surface of which imitates marble or natural stone.
Plastic fencing
Another type of fences that are worth mentioning in our review is plastic profile fencing.
They appeared on the market relatively recently, but already managed to gain a certain popularity.
- The plastic fence is assembled either from prefabricated sections, or from profiles cut from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) according to specified sizes.
- To connect the parts can be used as screws, and latches on the profile itself. As a rule, a kit with each fence includes instructions demonstrating the order of assembly.
- High-quality plastic fences are practically not exposed to external influences, therefore they are durable and do not lose their attractiveness even after several years of use.

And this is not a complete list of the types of fences used in private construction. That is why, choosing a fence for a private house, you should not limit yourself to one or two options. The market of enclosing structures is very extensive, and there will surely be something on it that you will like!
