Fence

What not to say, but brick fences are the most popular construction of private property fencing. It so happened that the brick is considered the most durable and durable material. From it add up almost any structure, ranging from the barn and ending with high-rise buildings.

We want to talk about the use of bricks in the construction of the fence, to show an example of what it is practical and convenient material.

A good example of a regular brick fence.

What is brick

This universal material cannot be dubbed on one ruler, they say, here is a brick for the fence and only a fence made of it. In fact, it is not. The brick also has its own separation according to technical parameters and operating conditions.

Today, the main types of this material are used in construction:

  1. Draft - usually used for the construction of absolutely any structure. Used in construction in pure form from the factory. After installation requires additional finishing, plaster.
  2. Facing - designed for decorative finishing, cladding, building walls, fencing structures. It would be more correct to express the structure of clinker bricks, because this is its purely technical definition. As a rule, it has a smooth front side, which serves as a decoration of buildings.
  3. Refractory - this material is used mainly for the construction of stoves, fireplaces. Withstands high temperatures.
  4. Silicate - made from lime-sand mixtures, when exposed to high temperature. The finished material is quite durable and is not afraid of moisture. The scope is varied.

As you understand, thanks to this distinction of this artificial material, a unique definition of a brick for fences simply does not exist. When planning the construction, you should know the objectives and, according to them, choose the right material.

On the photo is a house built of silicate bricks.

What material is better to use

Starting to ennoble their territory, the owner of the house unobtrusively faces a lot of questions. It all starts with digging a hole under the foundation and ends up with a flashlight installed on a pole or not.

But if everything is very clear with the foundation, then the question of which brick is better for the fence is not so simple. Then you need to run a little ahead, and decide what you want to see in the final version.

Of course, to reduce the cost of construction today, the usual draft brick is neatly placed under the jointing. Obtaining in the end a structure that does not need to be plastered and further finished. When choosing this option, the main role here is played by the price of the material. As a rule, such a brick is the cheapest of all the types presented.

When addressing this issue should pay special attention to the weather conditions in your region. For example, facing brick can not withstand very low temperatures. And when moisture penetrates into it and is exposed to frost, it can completely crumble.

It looks like a decorative brick, but this is only a small part of the types of decor

Tip! Indeed decorative facing brick suffers from water and frost. But this does not mean that it can not be used at low temperatures. To protect this material from the destruction and penetration of moisture, it must be further processed before laying. For these purposes, there is a special soil that creates a visible film on the surface and prevents water from penetrating inside.

But if you want to emphasize the individuality of your building, you can build a silicate brick fence on your site. In its finished form, this design looks very dignified. All you need is to embroider such a laying, no further processing is required. The great advantage is also the resistance of such a material, both to low temperatures and moisture penetration.

This laying is not subject to destruction, of course, except for mechanical, such as targeted dismantling. Well, then the choice is yours - what suits you best, and choose such material.

Construction start from scratch

In theory, every good owner can build a brick fence with his own hands, in fact it is not so difficult. The main thing is to have the desire, time and all the necessary material. We, in turn, will try to help you in this event.

First of all, it is desirable to start with digging holes for the foundation. Having measured everything beforehand, you can mark and start digging. The optimal depth of the basement will be seventy-five centimeters, this is taking into account the fact that the soil in your area can freeze to a depth of three meters.

On the photo there is a ready foundation, with pillars of columns.

The width of your foundation for the fence will directly depend on how you plan to lay the fence brick. Will it be laying in half-brick, or maybe in whole, the owner decides. Accordingly, the width with a ten percent surcharge will be just right for the construction of the structure.

Initially, you must define important details for yourself:

  • The length of the span of the fence, will help you determine the place where the columns will be installed for the fence of brick.
  • The height of the building, there are certain tolerances that need to be considered.
  • Options for subsequent design.
  • The width of the planned wall.

Having clearly set goals on your paper, it will be easier for you to calculate the material and evenly distribute the workflow.

Option laying in half

Let's take into account in the construction of our fence, the simplest common type of masonry in half-brick.

That is why we offer it to you.

  • Saving. For the construction of such walls requires a minimum of material. Which again saves you expenses.
  • Strength. Such walls are able to protect you from virtually any threat, be it an illegal entry or weather phenomenon.
  • Aesthetics. Such masonry really gives the walls beautiful outlines, underlined by high-quality jointing.
  • The speed of construction. Thanks to this method, construction time is significantly reduced.

Start of masonry brick columns

Well, you need to start building with the construction of columns. When pouring the foundation, you had to pour special pedestals for them, after releasing pieces of reinforcement for reinforcement.

Well, we stack the first row, from which the installation of further construction will begin. To do this, lay out a brick in a circle, butt to the rear, but do not forget that the wall must be tied with a column.

Laying in half-brick is immediately tied up with a column

Information! Dressing with the column can be done immediately, by launching into the design of the wall brick column. It is also possible to connect the walls with columns. This is done during the laying of the target structure, the reinforcement is launched into the column every three to four rows, and the laying continues on top of it.

This instruction is applicable also for laying walls, or for freestanding structures.

Further, row by row, we continue to raise the laying up, while using construction measuring devices. We make sure that our structure does not give a roll relative to the vertical. Otherwise, we will get a poor-quality construction, which, like the “Tower of Pisa”, may fall at any moment.

But it seems that such an outcome does not threaten us, because, as you have very little left. Now you can think about decorating the top, last row of bricks.

Such decorative items not only decorate, but also protect

For these purposes, there are special designs, concrete covers for fences. But they not only decorate the fence, they also protect the upper row from moisture penetration into the masonry. Preventing the premature destruction and the occurrence of fungus on the walls.

As a rule, after installing decorative hubcaps, a brick fence can be considered ready made. Of course, at once it is difficult to master the entire time-consuming process of such construction. But once faced, you acquire skills that you might need the next time.

We also recommend watching the video at the end of the article. There, they will visually show you how the laying of the fence post begins, and the subsequent continuation of the wall. After reading our guide and watching the video, you can easily build any brick fencing.
