Putty facade itself
The modern construction market offers a wide range of materials that are used for facades. One of them is putty for exterior work. The correct choice of such material will provide the facade with high-quality finish and prevent its premature destruction. In addition, the putty of the facade with their own hands requires from the master certain practical skills and compliance with the rules for exterior decoration of buildings.
High-quality putty for the facade can provide the opportunity to fully prepare the surface for further finishing, as well as contribute to the alignment of walls to perfect condition. Today there are several types of facade plaster, which allows you to choose the most optimal material for finishing the exterior walls of any structure. In this case, you need to take into account what the surface of the walls consists of.
Materials
Currently, there are many materials designed for putty facades. One of the most popular types of such finishing compositions are cement-based putties. Such materials are highly resistant to external weathering. Resistance to moisture provides such a putty for a sufficiently long service life. Water-dispersion putty based on glue has also become widespread.
Such material is produced in a form ready for use. The putty is packaged in a convenient plastic container of various capacities. Such mixtures have the exact observance of viscosity, which provides them with a fairly high strength of the facade coating and excellent smoothness. In turn, this allows you to easily carry out paint work. On the practical side, such mixtures are very convenient, since they are easy to use even for an inexperienced painter.
Preparation of the mixture
In order to prepare the finished putty, the following tools and source components are needed:
- dry putty mixture;
- technical or clean water;
- suitable container for mixing the solution;
- drill with a special nozzle or construction mixer.
First, in the prepared container you need to pour the appropriate amount of water. Then you should evenly pour the dry mixture into the tank and mix, preventing the formation of lumps from the building mass. After waiting a few minutes for the gradual saturation of the powder with water, you need to thoroughly mix this mixture using an electric motor stirrer.
After obtaining a homogeneous mass of the desired consistency, it must be given some time of rest to stabilize the mixture. This is usually from 5 to 15 minutes. After maintaining this time interval, the solution must be mixed again in the same way.
Note! After receiving the putty mixture, it is no longer possible to add an additional portion of dry powder for thickening, and also to dilute it with water.
Instruments
The main tool for spackling works are spatulas of various sizes and shapes. They are a construction of a metal blade and handle. Depending on the design features of the spatula, the blades can have a different configuration and size. There are also solid spatulas made from elastic rubber. Such a tool is used to align small fragments of the putty surface.
The process of putty
In order to know how to putty the facade of a house, it is necessary to study some features of this process. Finishing the exterior walls of the building with plaster necessarily implies their puttying. Such work can be divided into several main stages. Namely:
- wall surface preparation;
- primer;
- applying a primary layer of putty;
- drawing the second layer;
- finishing putty;
- drying and grouting.
The main task of preparing the surfaces of the facade is the removal of old layers of paint and putty, which has already collapsed. You should also clean the walls of various contaminants and rust. Places where mold is localized must be treated with special compounds.
In the next step, all the walls of the facade should be treated with a primer. This will provide the surfaces with greater strength and better fit of the putty mass, due to their better grip. The primer should be applied with a special roller or a wide brush. This wall treatment provides their surfaces with a thin bonding layer that prevents the development of mold and fungi.
After that you can begin to putty the walls. To do this, you need two spatulas - medium and large. With a smaller spatula, you should gain weight from the tank with putty, and with a large tool you need to smooth the solution along the wall.
Note! When applying the putty should not do too thick layer at a time. It is better to hold the tool several times on the surface, carefully smoothing the putty mass. After applying the first layer, it must be given a certain time for drying, after which it should be finished finishing with a finishing compound.
