Facade decoration sandwich panels
Exterior decoration of the building determines its appearance and serves to improve the operational characteristics: thermal conductivity, sound insulation, tightness and fire safety. The owners of country houses want a neat and attractive facade to retain their prestigious image for many years, and care for it is simple. Exterior panels are made of various materials: metal, cement, plastic. They perfectly decorate the walls of the house, imitating natural materials (stone, wood), and serve as additional protection against frost and heat.
Note! Sandwich panels are a modern multilayer material that combines the strength of a metal and the thermal insulation properties of mineral and synthetic insulation.
Practical, inexpensive and attractive lining will last more than 30 years. The facade decoration of sandwich panels is carried out in a short time, it can be done independently.
Types and advantages of the material
You can sheathe the facade with wall or cladding sandwich panels. They are made according to the same principle - between two rigid sheets there is a plastic or mineral insulation and a vapor barrier, and the layers are firmly glued to each other. The outer lining of the material is made of galvanized steel, an aluminum alloy with manganese and magnesium.
The outer side of the wall panels is made with a smooth or profiled surface, while the facing sheet is decorated under plaster and wood. The metal has a galvanization or polymer coating that protects it from corrosion. The thickness of the facing slab is from 30 to 80 mm (metal by 0.5 mm, plastic - 20–70 mm), and weight - up to 3.5 kg. Aluminum vapor is used as vapor barrier. The wall panel, depending on the insulation, may have a thickness of from 50 to 350 mm.
As a polymer insulation is used:
- polyurethane foam;
- basalt, mineral wool;
- fiberglass;
- polystyrene foam.
The main advantages of sandwich panels:
- Environmental Safety.
- Low weight sandwich panels facilitate their transportation and unloading, in addition, they give a small load on the foundation.
- The cellular structure of insulation provides good sound insulation.
- Installation of cladding can be carried out in all weather conditions.
- High resistance to temperature and humidity changes.
- The appearance of the facade does not change over the years, the coating does not fade and does not require painting.
- The material is not susceptible to mildew, rotting and chemical attack.
- With the help of facing sandwich panels, you can quickly restore the facades of old buildings.
- Affordable cost.
The disadvantages of cladding include the emergence of cold bridges at the joints and low resistance to mechanical damage, so when installing panels, you must follow the rules for their installation.
Preparation for lining
Technical documents attached to the finishing material, have recommendations on the type and number of fasteners, finishing and fittings. The length of the spans depends on the wind load on the building and the thickness of the panels - for 100 mm - 6 m, 50 mm - 4 m. Installation of sandwich panels is carried out on the frame, resulting in a ventilated facade that reliably protects the building from wind, rain and frost.
Note! The presence of the gap avoids condensation on the inner surface of the finish and on the walls of the house.
Between themselves docking plates made by connecting to a special lock. The crate for installation is made of wood or metal profile.
Installation of panels
Installation of panels can be horizontal or vertical. It is impossible to cut the material with a grinder, the polymer coating is broken due to the high temperature and the insulation of the insulation is peeling off. Metal sheets are cut first, then plastic or cotton wool. To work fit scissors for metal or circular saw. The resulting steel shavings must be thoroughly cleaned, to avoid residues in the locking connection.
The horizontal rail of the U-profile is fastened to the basement of the building, into which the first panel is inserted.
Note! The geometry of the whole structure depends on the correct installation of the starting row.
For mounting screws are used with rubber gaskets, their length depends on the thickness of the plates. Longitudinal joints are treated with sealant to prevent freezing. Cross connections are protected with insulation similar to that used in sandwich panels; these are mineral wool and foam for polystyrene foam. The technological seam is closed by a shaped element - a splat - after the installation is completed.
Vertical installation begins with a corner, with this placement, the level is controlled by a plumb line. The fastening of the panels starts from the top. With this method, locking joints are more difficult to snap into place, so they pay more attention to them, but you cannot use percussion instruments.
Note! In order to avoid the formation of cold bridges, the joints are treated with sealant, sealing tape or basalt wool.
At the end of the work, the joints are closed with additional elements, which are mounted in 30 cm increments. The facade, lined with sandwich panels, will receive a neat decoration and practical insulation of the premises.
