Exterior decoration of the house of aerated concrete
After the construction of the house of aerated concrete, you have to think about the next stage - finishing the facade. Modern materials for this purpose can perform several functions at once: decorative, protective and others. That is why it is necessary to carefully consider all the options in order to stay at the best, not only in terms of external and quality characteristics, but also in price. Exterior decoration of the house of aerated concrete can be done in different ways and in accordance with different technologies - all of them will be discussed in this article.
House Features
Blocks of aerated concrete are modern innovative material, thanks to which the process of wall construction is simplified several times. It belongs to the category of lightweight cellular concrete that has open pores. Increased porosity due to the entry into the composition of the aluminum powder. The same component allows the blocks to have high vapor permeability.
The main function of aerated concrete is insulation, but if the wall thickness is not calculated correctly, then an additional layer of insulation will be needed on the outside, which will lead to additional costs. If all the calculations were correct, then it is enough to allocate a small amount for finishing, which will be enough to give the house an attractive look, as well as to protect the aerated concrete from high atmospheric humidity, water, frost and ultraviolet radiation.
Note! Before you begin to finish the walls of the house outside, you must finish the interior work.
What is needed exterior finish
To finish the walls outside the building is necessary in the case of cement-loose mixes for their fastening, but if special glue was used, it is enough to give the facade a pleasant appearance. The market of finishing materials offers a fairly large range:
- clinker tiles;
- siding;
- plaster;
- brick;
- decorative plates;
- fiber cement panels.
Note! It is very important that the selected material not only performs the specified functions, but also “breathes”, so the air circulation will not be disturbed.
Clinker tiles
When deciding to finish the walls with clinker tiles, it is necessary to make all calculations at the initial stage of construction. For example, an additional air gap between the wall and the finishing layer is taken into account. For maximum air flow when laying tiles in vertical joints, gaps are left for ventilation, the total area of which should not exceed 1% of the total area.
Note! The layer of clinker tiles should not protrude from the foundation or be abutting it; therefore, when forming, additional centimeters are taken into account for the exterior finish, especially when it comes to tape foundations.
Siding
One of the modern finishing materials is siding. Manufacturers make siding with a variety of surfaces that mimic natural materials, such as stone or wood. When decorating walls with siding, you can get a lot of advantages, since it itself has many positive properties, for example:
- heat resistance;
- moisture resistance;
- easy installation
If it is necessary to further insulate the walls, then in combination with siding, both soft (mineral wool) and solid (foam) warming materials are used. Affordable price complements the list of advantages of this finishing option. It is worth noting that for installation there is no need to involve professionals, since you can cope with all the work yourself.
Note! When working with siding, it is necessary to leave thermal gaps, because siding is subject to temperature.
Decorative and simple plaster
If there is no need for durable protection of the house from cold and humidity, then you can consider the finishing of the walls of aerated concrete more affordable and simple option - plaster. Before applying decorative plaster on the wall, it is necessary to calculate whether the insulation is sufficient or whether an additional layer of insulation is needed.
The technology of plaster wall decoration is also simple and does not include the use of special tools or new technologies. The walls are first attached to the insulation with a special glue and luffed dowels. Then all the seams between the sheets are puttied and fixed with glue and a reinforcing mesh of fiberglass. For greater strength, the surface is plastered in 2 or 3 layers, and after complete drying, the walls are primed and painted with facade paint.
Note! As an additional insulation, almost all options can be considered: foam plastic, polystyrene foam, mineral wool.
Brick
The decoration of the house of aerated concrete with facing brick is also very popular. This finishing method must be calculated in advance, as is the case with tiles, because the layer of brick should not protrude beyond the foundation, otherwise the load will be incorrectly divided, and the walls may settle.
Note! In this embodiment, as in the case of other finishing materials, it is necessary to leave a ventilation gap 3 cm thick.
Decorative panels
No less common way today is the decoration of decorative plates, the surface of which imitates tile, stone, wood and other materials. Fasteners of panels must be made exactly according to the instructions from the manufacturer, otherwise the strength will be broken and in a few years the decorative wall will crack or settle, and cold will begin to penetrate through the cracks.
Note! In the construction market, you can find ready-made structures that have fasteners with which they can be fastened directly to the gas blocks and thus simplify the process of finishing.
Fiber cement panels
In the past few years, fiber cement panels have appeared on the building materials market, which were first developed and manufactured in Japan, but today each country has its own manufacturer. Among the advantages of this finishing material are:
- a wide range of colors, textures, sizes;
- small weight;
- ease of installation;
- minimum load on the foundation;
- high mechanical strength.
When finishing the house with fiber cement panels, it is worth considering that they may have different thickness, which will affect the size of the screws. It is with their help that the panels are attached directly to the walls, and the caps are painted to match the tone of the panels. To create ventilation between the walls, a gap of 3-4 cm is left. Also, during the installation of the plates, a distance of 1 cm is left between the elements on all sides, which is then filled with a special sealant.
Note! The decoration of the walls with modern fiber-cement panels should be carried out on a flat and even surface, therefore all old elements of the decoration are dismantled, and along with them window sills, lanterns, holders.
Modern and versatile building material aerated concrete needs additional protection from weathering. It is worth considering all the options for finishing.
