Especially often they are mounted in halls and living rooms. Like standard hinged interior canvases, they have their own characteristics, as well as pros and cons.

When self-installing doors of this type must be very accurate at all stages of installation. Since the slightest mistake can lead to a malfunction of the door leaf or its rapid failure.

• While saving the opening and closing area, the sliding door limits the possibility of placing furniture near the doorway.

You should know! If there is a need to put the furniture near the opening, then you can push it so that it does not interfere with the door leaf.

• Sliding door has a low sound insulation compared with swing. However, if you install a single canvas, it is possible to improve noise absorption by mounting the adjacent slats. That is, the door in the closed state will tightly pretend to it.

You should know! The noise reduction of the door unit affects not only the installation method, but also the design of the canvas itself. For example, a door from an array will be a better insulator than a hollow panel board.

Independent installation of sliding doors-accordions

A distinctive feature of the door-accordion is their location within the opening. This is the most economical in terms of space occupied in the room type of doors. The downside can only be a narrowing of the doorway itself due to the fact that the open door is in it.

You should know! If you are planning to install a sliding interior door-accordion, then you may have to expand the opening.

The interroom sliding door is set up as follows (option for plastic "accordion"):

• First, the doorway is prepared. To do this, be sure to align the level of its side and upper parts. If the partition wall is made of concrete or brick, then you can make the alignment with plaster or plaster (see How to align the doorway: do it yourself). On the wooden walls is possible "stripe" boards or slats.
• Mark up in the opening of the place of attachment of the ceiling rail and the rack side elements.
• First, fasten the upper guide with self-tapping screws or dowel-screws. Under the dowels, pre-drill the holes with a drill with a drill bit. It is important that the horizontal part is set strictly on the level and exactly relative to the edges of the opening. Otherwise, the door can arbitrarily open or close.
• Mount the vertical parts of the box to the opening. In this case, do not forget to use the construction level. It is desirable that he was at least 1.5 meters long. Both parts must be strictly parallel to each other.
• Further the sliding interroom door with the hands is hung on the mobile elements which are in a horizontal guide.
• Now you need to check the literacy of the installation: close the door and see if there are any gaps or irregularities at the junction of the door to the false vertical bar.

The composition of the hinged system for sliding doors

Another type of sliding door design is the use of a hinged system using conventional door leafs. At the same time it is possible one - or two-fold execution.

The standard package of mounted systems is as follows:

1. Lower guide with roller (one or two).
2. Upper guide with two or four rollers. A wooden block 40x40 or 50x50 may also be included.
3. Two "bump stop" - a stopper.
4. Hardware - mounting screws or dowels-screws.

Also for the decoration of the structure you will need additional strips, trim and screws with plugs. The first step is to determine the width of the door leaf.

To do this, keep in mind that it should be more than 7 centimeters wide doorway. The height of the door should exceed the opening by 5-7cm.

You should know! Although the hinged system is able to withstand a fairly high load (80-100kg), consider whether it is worth making the sliding doors from too heavy canvases. Consider the material of the walls to which the entire structure will be attached.

Technology installation of interior sliding doors

We start the installation process. All interior sliding doors are installed using the following technology:

• Align the surface of the opening: all its opposite sides should be parallel to each other, and should be level.

You should know! The surface of the wall along which the door will walk should not have bulges. Otherwise, the canvas can touch them.

• The installation process begins with the marking and fasteners of the lower guide bar with a roller. At the same time keep in mind that it should be strictly under the top guide.
• Next, using an electric router or chisel with a hammer, you need to make a groove in the lower end of the door leaf. It is needed for the guide roller to move through it. Such a device will allow the door to walk smoothly, not deviating to the sides.
• Now proceed to the installation of the upper part of the hinged system. To begin, mark the position of the wooden bar on the wall. For this operation it is better to get an assistant. Since the two will get it more accurate.
• After marking we fix the timber to the wall. For this we use anchor bolts with a length of at least 120 millimeters and a diameter of 10-12mm. Field fixture check horizontal level.
• Now fasten the aluminum rail to the timber with screws.

You should know! Before fastening the rail to the bar, drill holes for the screws. This is to ensure that the tree does not crack.

• After installing the door guides, the interroom sliding door can be hung by hand. To do this, fasten the rollers to the canvas.
• The webs are attached as follows: first, insert the lower roller into the groove provided, and then into the upper guide.

The door is ready for use and now you need to check the quality of installation: open and close it several times. Try to hold it in the middle and see if it stays in place or not. If everything is done on a level everywhere, then the canvas should not move by itself.

The important point is the fasteners limiters. Do not forget about them, because thanks to them the door will not be able to jump out of the rail.

The last stage is the decoration of the door construction by the platbands (see Decorative platbands on the door: the correct section) and (or) by additional strips. Close all visible parts of the hinged structure with them. As fasteners use finishing studs or screws with plugs in the color of the canvas.
