Sizes of interior doors: width, thickness, height

Doors

Today we will conduct a detailed review of the most significant characteristics that have interior doors: width, height, thickness of the canvas and its weight.

As such, strict state standards for manufacturers do not exist. There are those. conditions at each factory, which govern the quality control department.

However, there are typical parameters, which are often tied to the high-rise buildings that were unchanged in Soviet times. Many Russian manufacturers still reckon with the standards of openings of those times.

Parameters of interior doors

Knowledge of the parameters of the paintings will facilitate your selection and installation. And as you can, guided by the knowledge gained, it is correct to make all the necessary measurements and finishing works of the walls in the opening.

The width of the doors of our time

Manufacturers of Russia and Europe have different ideas about some of the characteristics of paintings and their components. However, such a parameter as width is almost the same for all manufacturers.

Interior door width

Our factories make them in the following size range in width: from 55 centimeters to 90 cm.

You should know! Domestic manufacturers make "sorokovki", but they are usually used when installing double-wing (see. Double door unit: design features).

So:

  • By 550 millimeters - This is a classic option for toilet and bathrooms in small apartments - Khrushchev.
  • 600 mm wide also often used in sanitary facilities. Another application is the integral part of a double door.
  • If the width of the interior door is 700 mmthen this instance will have to “guard” the kitchen spaces.
  • 800 and 900 mm wide blades most often used in the openings between residential and children's rooms. They are also placed as a second door after the entrance metal door.

The sizes of the canvases are the most common. But if your taste requires more, then you can always order custom width. But keep in mind that for it will have to fork out. Sometimes, paying double the standard price.

European doors are not particularly different: the width of their travel canvases is also a maximum of 90 centimeters, and the minimum is 60. At the same time, doors are made in width in 10 centimeters.

All dimensions given were for single-swing structures. And what are the size of the double? They range from one meter to 1.4 meters.

You should know! A double hinged or sliding door can be made from parts of different widths. For example, 600 and 800 mm - 1400 mm double. The same size can be achieved with the help of two identical 700 mm canvases.

The method of opening (see. What are the interior doors) determines the required width of the opening. Therefore, before you prepare it, you should decide how your door will perform its direct duties. That is, it will move and move apart or swing open and pretend.

Height

About 30 years ago, all the doors in our country had two standard heights - 1.9 and 2.0 meters. Today, thanks to the diversity of the architectural structures of houses and apartments, other running dimensions have appeared - 2.1 and 2.3 meters.

Doors to the ceiling are also gaining popularity, which are also called sliding partitions. Their feature is the large weight of the structure - up to 130 kilograms!

For foreign manufacturers, the choice is “poorer” - they predominantly manufacture doors that are 210 cm high. Their canvases are indicated by the marker M21. This means that the height is 2 meters and 10 centimeters.

Is the door thickness important?

Thickness is an important characteristic.

It directly or indirectly affects the following indicators:

  • noise suppression;
  • strength;
  • appearance.

The sound insulation properties, the thickness does not directly affect, as the main role for this indicator is played by the material of manufacture. But with the same interior door design, a thicker copy would be better to suppress noise.

interior door thickness

The thicker the door, so it is stronger. There is a direct relationship. Although also important is the composition of the filling: the array, honeycomb, glass or panel. The most common dimensions of modern doors in thickness: from 35 to 40 millimeters.

In general, this web parameter has large variations:

  • Hinged sliding doors can have a thickness of 20 mm or more.
  • In addition to the standard 35 and 40 mm, can be both 36 mm and 38 thick.
  • The thickness of the door on which the “quarterly” array is sampled can be 40, 44 or 45 millimeters.
  • The canvases, which are made of pure wood, have dimensions of 40 mm in thickness. To order you can make a thicker model. For example, 50 millimeters.

Weight of various designs

The weight of the door in your room is a feature no less important than width, height and thickness.

Let's see what this parameter depends on:

  1. The material used in the production.
  2. Sizes: height, width of a cloth and its thickness.

Now about the influence of each parameter:

  • The design feature directly and mainly affects its weight.
  • The heaviest are from the natural oak massif. Generally speaking, wooden doors have the greatest weight compared to other structures (from 25 to 100 kg).
  • Further, to reduce the weight followed by framed (from 20 kilograms). They use MDF or chipboard insert as filling. The upper part may contain three different fillings: a panel, cellular cardboard or glass (see Decorative glass for doors: how to choose the right one). It also affects the severity.
  • The type of glass also largely determines their weight. For example, triplex will be much harder than tempered or ordinary glazing.

You should know! Wooden and framed desirable to hang on three loops. Moreover, for options with a lightweight honeycomb, the third loop is attached not in the middle, but closer to the bottom edge. So how exactly the bottom of this design will be much heavier than the top.

  • The next type is shield with a hollow inside, filled with cellular honeycomb. Their weight ranges from 10 to 15 kg.
  • The easiest are plastic. They weigh an average of 4-5 kg.
  • Width: doors made from the same material vary in weight depending on width. Here the dependence is direct - the wider they are, the harder it is.
  • The same with height and thickness: thicker and tall will weigh more than their “thin, undersized brethren”.

So, the characteristics are very diverse. You need to consider this before changing the dimensions of the opening. The width, thickness, height, as well as their weight in many ways can affect the convenience and duration of use of the entire door structure.
