This is almost the entire process of working in schematic order.
Preparation of the necessary tools
Before you begin the manual restoration of the doors you need to take care of the availability of the necessary tools. Because all the work will need to perform holistically.
Required tool kit:
- Drill and drill;
- Hacksaw with small teeth, in order to not harm the lyceum parts;
- Powerful hair dryer for removing old paint;
- A set of sandpaper, different grain;
- Hard putty for woodwork. If desired, it is easily made at home. Need to mix white glue with sawdust;
- Prepare a primer mixture; this item is very important;
Attention: If the door is painted without a primer applied to it, the result may be a non-uniform coating, due to the fact that in different parts of the tree the dye is absorbed in different ways, which may create gaps or, on the contrary, too thick areas.
- If you have a spray gun available, it will greatly facilitate the upcoming work, but otherwise brushes of different sizes will also be a good option.
Remove old cover
Now is the time to get to work and learn how to restore your old doors. First of all, we remove the door from the hinges so that after placing it it would be convenient to work with it.
So:
- First, we remove all the fittings that are on the door. If the door with glass is necessary to dismantle the beadings, no matter what hinders the work;
- Next, with a hair dryer, we warm the surface. After heating the old surface, it begins to swell and gradually peel off;
- Next up is the spatula. With it, we begin to carefully remove the peeling coating, whatever may damage the flat door base;
- After the first stage, most of the paint will come off., in order to remove it all, repeat the steps with a hairdryer and a spatula until we clear the door.
Attention: If there are recesses on the door, then a spatula corner should be used to effectively clean this surface.
We prepare the surface for further work.
The next step is the preparation of the cleaned surface for the new paint application. Therefore, the first thing to do at this stage is to make sure that the surface is perfectly flat.

So:
- Using a coarse-grained emery paper, we make a rough surface treatment of the door;
Attention: It is very undesirable to carry out sandpaper processing just with your hand, you need to use an even bar for these purposes, put paper on it and after that make a uniform stripping.
- As soon as the processing of coarse-grained paper is over, we do the same thing only with fine-grained paper;
- After the cleaning, the surface was made relatively flat, but with the presence of mini shells. To eliminate them, use putty on wood. Putty need to putty rubber spatula;
- When the putty is dry, we carry out another treatment with a bar and coarse-grained, and then fine-grained emery paper;
Note: A perfectly flat surface will be obtained only after 2-3 such operations.
- Carefully remove the dust after sandpaper and apply a primer on a smooth surface with a brush or spray gun. Wait until the surface is dry.
- For applying putty apply rubber spatula, do not take from metal, you can damage the plane.
Door painting
At this stage, it is important to decide what end result you plan to get after painting the door.
There are several types of paint:

- Glossy paint. If you choose this type, you should understand that after painting all possible defects will appear that were left after preparation. Therefore, if you are not sure about the quality preparation of the plane, you should not risk it. But at the same time this paint always looks good and beautiful.
- Acrylic paint. This half gloss paint looks great in enclosed spaces. Able to keep the door from moisture.
- Latex enamel. Very reminiscent of oil paint. More resistant to mechanical damage and will retain its initial appearance for a long time.
- After the paint is selected, put it on the previously cleaned surface. Again, you can use a spray or a brush. In the latter case, you need to have on hand both thick and thin brushes for better work.

Pasting of old doors can be done starting from dermantine and ending with the aging of the material. It all depends on your taste and preferred design.
