How to make a wooden porch - just about complicated

In addition, even if the house is already ready, it is rather difficult to make the correct drawing and imagine what the porch will look like in the finished form. And, of course, a non-professional craftsman will need more time to build a wooden porch.

Preparatory stage

3. It is highly desirable to think over the design in advance so that it is subjected exclusively to operational load.
4. This means that the porch made of wood with your own hands will be obtained only if you design the structure so that it is minimally exposed to the external environment.
5. When planning the design of the porch in the first place you need to pay attention to the main element - the platform.
6. It should be spacious enough, not hinder the use of the door and freedom of movement.
7. Rules and regulations limiting the size of the porch, does not exist.
8. Its shape and size depends entirely on the taste and abilities of the owner of the house, who wants to build a porch with his own hands from wood.

Installation of a wooden porch - the main stages

Tip: When starting construction you need to know that the porch area must be at least 3-5 centimeters below the threshold of the door. If this recommendation is not followed. When exposed to moisture, the site may be deformed, as a result, the door will either open with difficulty or be blocked.

Building an element such as, for example, a village porch can be quite a costly undertaking, since you will need to purchase a variety of materials — round pillars or profiled bar, boards of various thicknesses, bars, and so on.

But you can go and more simple (and at the same time less expensive) by. The whole structure can be made of boards 5 centimeters thick. From boards of such diameter it is possible to make both supports for a porch, and a platform.

How to properly strengthen the supports and the base of the wooden porch

So:

1. The supports can be made using boards of 50? 150 millimeters.
2. The support is made of two boards fastened together with nails or screws.
3. According to the size of the porch, dig holes in the ground in which the “sole” of the support is arranged.
4. As a sole you can use large flat stones.
5. If there is no one at hand, another method will do the trick: you can pour coppers with a solution of sand and cement, with pebbles or rubble.

6. Wooden supports are installed on finished stone (or cement) pyataks. It is fashionable not to waterproof the supports, but it is necessary to cover them with an antiseptic.
7. The supports are impregnated with an antiseptic agent to a height of 15–20 centimeters from the ground.
8. As an antiseptic, you can use such an available material as used automotive oil. Suitable for this purpose and linseed oil (including, and not drying).

Important: it is undesirable to use liquid bitumen (although this option is quite common). Roofing and impermeable films are also not quite suitable for protection from decay.

The reason is simple - all of the above materials and tools prevent the access of air, forming an impenetrable film. Thus, wood is deprived of the opportunity to "breathe", and the process of decay begins from within.

If the inner part of the porch (located under the porch platform) is planned to be used for household needs, it is better to sheathe the side and front side of the porch with an inch board.

If this space will not be used, and it is planned to leave it open, then a bunch of additional supports should be installed. They must be installed at any level below the middle of the supports.

Porch area mounting rules

Flight of stairs ? one flight of a number of steps (see Stairs steps: original design of the main entrance) between two levels (maybe several depending on the shape and height of the porch).

The site is fastened with nails or screws directly to the wall of the house. And due to the bundle of the site with a flight of stairs, reliability, strength and stability of the structure are achieved. Building a staircase for a wooden porch

The bowstring is a carrier inclined plank of a flight of stairs, designed for mounting steps on it. It is the most difficult element of the ladder. It is possible to significantly simplify the task of making a bowstring by making a template. You can make it out of cardboard or hardboard.

A pattern is made as follows: a strip of hardboard (cardboard) about 40 centimeters wide is applied to the butt of the support of a horizontal platform with one end. And the second end is simply placed on the supporting platform. The string of a bowstring is drawn along the corner formed by them, the excess parts of the hardboard are cut off.

At this stage of construction can be faced with another difficulty? the width of the string needed to build a porch may be significantly larger than the size of the cut board.

In this case, you can apply one of the methods listed below:

• Use uncut edging instead (using it, you can make a bowstring up to 40 centimeters wide and more);
• You can also extend the carrier inclined board, screwing with the help of screws from the bottom bars, the width of which should be equal to the width of the bowstring;
• You can use one or more outdoor boards.by attaching them to the string (the boards will close the carrier and strengthen the structure as a whole).
• The width of the flight of stairs is usually planned according to the number of people.that will move through it simultaneously. Calculations are made on the basis of the norm of at least 70 centimeters per person. How many bowstrings will be made depends on the size of the porch and what load it is supposed to have.
• After the final sizes of the string are determined, a concrete support pad should be prepared., on which it is desirable to make a pillow to drain moisture. Horizontal and platform sizes are determined using ready-made stringers. The construction of a wooden porch is a responsible process, so it is advisable to follow the basic recommendations. The recommended width between the string is no more than one and a half meters.
• When the bearing pad is dry, bowstrings are placed on it.which are fastened by self-tapping screws to the support posts of the site. Under the string set of support pads, which should rest against the supporting pyataki.
• The assembly of the high porch always starts from the bottom step. The risers are attached to the boards of the steps, while less than 20 millimeters must remain shameful. The boards of steps and risers can be fixed with the help of self-tapping screws with large hats, or with ordinary self-tapping screws, which then must be drowned in the board to a depth of 5 millimeters.

Important: In some cases it is also allowed to make hidden fastenings with the help of bars, which are installed under the steps.
