How to make a porch for the house of brick with your own
The porch is a necessary and necessary part of any home. As a rule, it is made from the same material as the basement of the house.
In most cases, it is laid out of brick, so the porch for a brick house is better to do from a homogeneous material. Consider making it. This material looks quite beautiful and, moreover, is practical for any structure.
Nowadays there are many types of face bricks, of various shapes. There is a large range of colors that will satisfy every taste. The brick porch is not as difficult to make with your own hands as it seems at first glance.
There are many options for construction (see. Types of porch: the taste and color). If desired, you can position the stairs frontally, with two or one side. In most cases, they make it one-one-sided, but if the basement of the house is high enough, it’s a double-top.

Where it all begins
Of course, it all starts with drawing and markup.
- To avoid water running into bad weather, the height of the site should be at least 15–20 cm.
- Brick porch mounted at least 1.5 width of the front door of the house.
- The preferred thickness of the site is about 10 cm of concrete, which is placed on top of rubble.
- After the concrete is covered with a cement screed about 15 cm.
- The slope of the steps should be about 3 degrees to ensure the smooth flow of water.
- The width of the tread to the height of the riser corresponds to the width of the step of the person, which should give the opportunity to stand freely and provide stability in bad weather. The gap between the edges of the two parallels of the steps is wrongdoing. As a rule, it is about 170 mm. In most cases, the ratio of the width of the tread and the riser should be 1: 2. For example: the riser height is 150mm, then the tread width is 300mm. True, such a ladder should have a slope of about 27 *. That is, the ratio of the risers and treads will determine the slope of the stairs.
- The width of the march (the length of the step) is taken 12-15 cm.
- The step itself is made of monolithic concrete or prefabricated parts. The difference is that for the monolithic steps additional formwork is made, the prefabs are made in the form.
Please note: the outer porch of a brick house should be safe in bad weather conditions and should not be subject to ground vibrations.

- Trough for the preparation of the solution.

- Sand.
- Cement.
- Shelevka (length is made to the size of the steps and the length of the porch)
- Crushed stone
Getting Started
Side walls of stairs
Installation of the side walls is as follows:
- We start with the markup. Before the door we clear the area. We drive in pegs along the axis of the place where the walls should go. We carefully measure the diagonal.
- Digging the ground for the foundation. If the ground is not very loose enough depth of one meter. When soft, the depth of the foundation should be done at least 1.5 meters. The width should be 10 cm wider than the planned wall.
Attention: Do not neglect the quality of the foundation and protective waterproofing. Make a high-quality coverage of the staircase and steps.
- Along the edges we install reinforcement with a diameter of 10 mm. The height should be 10 cm above the upper platform of the steps (so that, subsequently, it was possible to fix the posts for the porch).
- Fall asleep with fine rubble and trample down tightly (instead of rubble, you can use pieces of asphalt and other stones).
- We spill the crushed crushed stone with liquid solution.
- When the foundation hardens, be sure to do waterproofing. You can simply put a single layer of ruberoid.
- Start laying. We put the whole first brick, the next row we start at three-quarters (for the strength of the structure and improving the bond).
We do the solution this way: we take brand 400 cement. We mix with sand in a ratio of 1: 3. Stir until the mixture is completely homogeneous. Fill with water and mix the solution. Mix thoroughly, eliminate the formation of lumps. The solution should lie on the trowel, not drain, but be sufficiently plastic.
- The seam between the rows of masonry should be 1 cm.
- In the upper part of the masonry we make a direct platform., below, lay out a place to install the steps themselves.
Be sure to work using a plumb, you can not fill up the corners.
When the solution dries up (but still remains wet), we do the jointing of the brick.
Caution: Do not forget to remove the influx of mortar from the brick. (So as not to have to beat off after drying, what can damage the front part).
After the solution dries, wipe the finished wall with a dry cloth.
Making the steps
In order to fill the steps to the porch, we do the following work:
- Mount the formwork, which consists of two boards, which must correspond to the shape of the step. The number of formwork must match the number of risers. For longitudinal boards, we make a distance equal to the length of the step.
- We pour the soil to the base (we create the platform) and we condense it. Make the slope according to the slope of the steps. If there is a desire, it is possible to make independent foundations for the platform and steps.
- Raised the platform. We reinforce the soil with reinforcement (for the strength of the structure). The diameter of the rods should be about 6 mm. Step set 150 mm.
- We install boards to give the desired shape to concrete.
- Steps start to do from the bottom (see Steps for the porch: the original design of the main entrance). They reinforce with reinforcement every step, preferably at the joints to weld. We put a layer of rubble, put reinforcement, report the rubble to the desired height of the step. We spill with liquid solution.
- After the completion of the first stage, proceed to the second.
Caution: Do the steps extremely carefully. Until the solution has stiffened, it may be easy to damage the already prepared ones.
- After drying, the solution can be lined with other materials.: artificial or natural stone, or tiles for exterior surfaces (see. Tiles for the porch - we select wisely). It all depends on the imagination of each.
Choose frost-resistant materials. Preference is better to give a rough and relief surfaces (in the winter is not so slippery).
The lining should begin with the riser, after the tread. At the beginning of treads place the cut tile, the following fix the whole.
After drying the solution
We make facing
We will need to do a number of the following operations:
- We clean the steps completely from debris and dirt.
- Lay out the tiles in such a way that it is clear the passage of the seam and the symmetry of the arrangement. If cutting is required, then we put risks and split it. Or use a grinder with a circle for cutting stone.
- Making a solution of sand and cement 1: 1. Apply it on the prepared surface with a layer of about 5 cm. (This is done with a spatula).
- According to the preliminary layout we lay tiles on the work surface. Lightly press and tap to fill the empty spaces under the material. We remove smudges.
- The made surface is covered with a damp dense rag or tarpaulin.
- Leave to dry out. This process will last at least a day.
- If the seams are not completely filled, they should be treated with a solution.
- After hardening, the seams are thoroughly wiped.
Caution: Vertical surface seams are most susceptible to destruction. To prevent this, they should be treated with a special silicone filler.
In this design, the railing made of metal will look most harmonious (see Decorating the porch). Railing welded to the left mortgages in the area and steps.
It will be extremely useful to make a porch for a brick house with special trays for draining water. They are mounted near the side fences. You can make an open or closed type (closed with special grids designed for these purposes). On them water should be drained into the sewer.
We make the formwork
The porch is brick, on both sides of the walls, and is equipped with concrete formwork, which protects it from falling under the foundation of sewage and protects it from sinking. Its height is about 7 cm.
- At the edges we recede 50 centimeters from a wall of a porch and we establish a lining.
- We fall asleep with rubble and trample down.
- We spill with liquid solution to complete filling.
- Cover the day with a wet tarpaulin.
Brick porch is ready to use. To reduce slipping during the cold season, the steps are covered with anti-skid materials. You can begin mounting the visor (see From what and how to make a visor).
