Preserving heat in a residential area is paramount in the cold season. Since the bulk of cold air penetrates into the apartments through the windows and entrance doors, special attention should be paid to their tightness. To do this, you can install already warmed or insulate them yourself.
If you are the owner of a new or still under construction housing, it is easier to immediately think through all the issues related to the leakage of heat from the house. Ready-made wooden insulated doors - the most correct solution in this case.
Insulating material (mineral wool or polystyrene foam) in them is located in the panels, between the layers of plywood, which makes it not only warm, but also light. If it is already in place, but can not cope with its insulating functions, you can think about how to insulate it yourself. Of course, if you are not ready for serious expenses for the shift.

Before you do this, measure the perimeter of the box, the thickness of the gaps and the width of the folds - those areas where the door leaf touches the box and where the rubber tape will be glued. These data are needed to select the correct amount and volume of the seal.
It is not difficult to guess that you will need as much compacting as you need for pasting the entire perimeter. As for its width and thickness, the width of the rubber tape should be equal to the width of the folds, and the thickness - the existing gap between the door and the box.

- Foam rubber - quite practical material that is easy to work with. But it also absorbs moisture and after a while begins to crumble and requires replacement.
- Mineral wool - made from basalt and synthetic fiber, therefore not susceptible to rotting. But this material sags under the upholstery and does not give a visual volume.
- Isolon - synthetic material with excellent thermal insulation properties with a small layer thickness.

Operating procedure
So:
- To determine the size of the sheet of insulation, back off from the ends of the door leaf 1 cm from all sides and measure the width and height. And if you warm the side that is adjacent to the box, then the dimensions need to be removed with the door closed, backing down 1 cm not from the ends, but from the walls of the box.

- In order to warm insulated wooden entrance doors, it is better to keep it warm and to look decent, a roller should be filled around the perimeter of the canvas. It is made of strips of insulation, wrapped in strips of upholstery. Rolled rollers are nailed around the perimeter of furniture nails. At the same time, on the hinge side, the roller should be located exactly along the edge, from the bottom - fit snugly to the threshold, and on the top and from the vestibule side - protrude by 4-5 mm.
- If you want to decorate, apply a geometric pattern with chalk on the upholstery and hammer furniture nails into the corners. You can go further by stretching a strip of leather, a string or a thick fishing line between nails.

Thermal insulation foam
How to make insulation foam? To do this, you can cut a sheet of foam exactly around the perimeter of the door (or the lumen of the box, if you insulate from the inside), cover it with leatherette and stick it to the canvas on liquid nails.
You can do otherwise. Nail around the perimeter of the wooden slats of the same thickness as the foam. Attach insulation between them and sheathe clapboard or laminated fiberboard.
But in this case, your wooden insulated doors will become harder and may require additional hinges for installation.
Sealing the doorway with rollers
If you do not have the opportunity to remove the door from the hinges in order to insulate it, for example, when it is already cold, you can significantly improve its thermal insulation properties by nailing the roller directly to the door frame.
It is done in the same way as described above. You only need to accurately determine its position so that the closed door is in close contact with it.
But on the threshold of such a roller can not be beaten, as it will quickly become worthless. It is better to attach it to the bottom of the door.
