How to insert glass into the interior door without any
If you are ready to do some simple repair work yourself, without the involvement of specialists, you will need to familiarize yourself with how to do it correctly and with the least effort.
From this article you can learn how to install glass in the interior door. The need to self-insert glass into it may arise if you bought a canvas without glass, if the glass broke on an already installed door, or if you want to turn a blind door into a glass door.
How to replace broken glass
So:
- On the old doors, the glass is fixed in the canvas with the help of baguette frames that can be easily removed to remove the remnants of broken glass and insert a new one.
Attention! Put on cloth gloves and put something under the door before you start work, so that it is easier to collect fragments later.
- If the area of the broken glass is large, then the door leaf before glazing should be removed from the hinges and laid on a horizontal surface.
- Measure the size of the opening under the glass on the seats. If the opening is square or rectangular, the dimensions horizontally and vertically will be enough. If figured, then make him a piece of thick paper or cardboard.
- Transfer the contours of the opening to the glass and cut the part with a glass cutter. But to do this without risking spoil the material, you can only having sufficient experience. - Replace the baguettes and carefully fasten them with finishing nails.
How to insert glass in a new door leaf
Modern doors from different manufacturers can vary greatly in design (see Interior door construction). Therefore, the fastening of glass in them is not the same. Some have a groove covered with a decorative strip in the upper end, in which the glass is lowered. But this is only if it is whole and large.
Often interior doors that do not have a framing frame for mounting glass inserts, have a collapsible design.
If you chose a canvas without glass or you want to replace the existing one with something more suitable for your interior, then again you will need:
- Make a curve on the light opening and add around the perimeter the value of the depth of the grooves in which the glass should go.
Note! When cutting the glass insert, make it 2-3 mm smaller than the dimensions obtained to leave space for the silicone.
- To insert glass, disassemble part of the webunscrewing bolts. Sometimes it is necessary to remove mullions or stand braces.
- Put it half naked in half or on the table and dotted grooves with silicone.
- Install the glass, let the silicone cling. and then reinstall all removed parts in reverse order.

How to insert glass into a blank door

If you try hard, you can unrecognizably change the old blank door by inserting a beautiful glass into it. To do this, you will need a jigsaw or handsaw, a drill, hand building tools, as well as finished wooden layouts with a selected quarter that will hold the glass.
The thickness of the layouts must be chosen so that when installed in the opening on both sides there remains a distance equal to the thickness of the glass:
- Mark the future doorway openingleaving at the top and sides at least 160 mm, and at the bottom - 500-550 mm.
- Drill holes in the corners of the painted opening.In which you can insert a blade of a hacksaw or jigsaw. Saw the opening.
- If the door is shield, hollow, then reinforcing slats must be inserted between the cladding panels., planting them on carpentry glue
- Sew the 45-degree layouts with the help of the can by the size of the opening in advance.
- On one side of the canvas, nail the layouts around the perimeter of the opening with small carnations without a cap.
- Turn the canvas, put the glass in the opening and very carefully, trying not to damage it, nail the layouts on this side.
