The subject of today's article is the arched corner. We will talk about the types, purpose and methods of fastening this finishing element.

To begin with, we will define the terminology: which corners are called arched and what is the difference between them. If in general, such angles are used to design curved structures of various types of finishing and building materials.

The main purpose of these elements is to protect the decorative covering of the corners. They prevent shedding and abrasion of paint, wallpaper, etc. Also, these corners, as it were, distinguish the form of the structures to which they are attached. For example, arches (see. Arch in the doorway: do it yourself), plasterboard niches, curved ceilings.

The main material for manufacturing is polyvinyl chloride. It is the corner of pvc arched that received the greatest distribution among the dressers. Also in the shops it is possible to find in the sale of cork for arches.

There are several ways to do this:

Stick on the glue.
Secure with screws.
Knock nails without caps.

Let us examine in more detail each of these methods. Most often, PVC corners are glued to the wall with glue. For example, on liquid nails or Titan.

You should know! Do not use liquid nails for heavy structures! Solvents which can corrode plastic can be their part. The best option - glue class "Express decor".

Before you begin to glue the corners to the surface, you should prepare it:

First of all, it is necessary to clean it from dirt and dust.
If the surface is greasy, then it should be treated with a degreaser.
Be sure to make priming work. After this, gluing is possible not earlier than in 30–40 minutes, since the primer should be completely dry.

You should know! Do not stick plastic corners on the wallpaper. Even if the latter hold tight to the wall.

All loose holding materials must be removed.
If you have already hung wallpaper, then remove them from the place where the corner will be pasted as follows: attach the angle of the pvc arched to the "native" place tightly and mark it with a pencil on both sides. Then clean the corner and neatly with a sharp stationery knife cut and remove the wallpaper.

Now you can proceed to gluing. If you decide to use liquid nails, then it is better to take them in a tube (under the gun). From such packing it will be more convenient to apply glue. Also buy a gun itself.

Apply glue to the corner with a small layer over the entire length and apply to the wall. Move a little corner to spread the glue over the surface. Then remove the corner and wait five minutes. After that, firmly hold the corner again and fix it on the wall with masking tape.

You should know! For white corners, buy white glue, and for color corners - colorless.

How to glue the arched corner of the cork: do all the steps for surface treatment described above. Glue must be used special - contact, for products from cork.

The attachment of arched corners to studs and furniture brackets has several disadvantages:

Lost aesthetics, as fasteners will be visible.
At the time of tightening screws (targeting brackets) may appear cracks on the surface of the corner.
If the fasteners to drag, then the corner can be bent.

Fixing perforated arched corners

It should tightly press the angle to the surface and shoot it with staples using a construction stapler on both sides.
Next, prepare a solution of gypsum plaster. (or basic putty) and applied with a spatula to the corner. At the same time it is necessary to press plaster more densely.

After drying the plaster, grind its special mesh or sandpaper.

You should know! Optimal use of plaster on the basis of plaster "VOLMA-Layer". It is very elastic and easily rubbed after drying. It is also possible to apply a ready putty with a coating thickness of 3mm.
