Door leaf size: how to choose by length, width and thickness

Changing the old or installing new doors in the house, you need to know the required size of the door leaf. Otherwise, it simply does not fit into the opening or will require its reduction and refinement. And the more precisely this size is chosen, the easier it will be to install and ensure its quality.

Let's look at the standard parameters of interior doors and see how to choose them correctly.

These parameters, if we talk about standard values, depend on the method of opening the door. Since the most common hinged and sliding structures, it will be about them.

Standard options

Perhaps the width is the only parameter that still remains standard among many manufacturers. Both domestic and foreign. While the size of the door leaf in height can be very different, being in the range from 190 to 230 cm.

• 190 and 200 cm - these are still Soviet standards, tied to the usual ceiling height in most apartments of that time. They are produced now.
• 210 cm is a foreign standard. As a rule, imported doors have only this size.
• 210 and 230 cm - new domestic standards, the need for which has arisen as a result of the emergence of modern homes with high ceilings.
• Door leaf for sliding doors can be of greater height, up to the ceiling itself.

The width of the door leaf has not changed since time immemorial.

It has the following meanings:

• 40 cm - used as an integral part of one-and-a-half or double doors;
• 60 cm (sometimes found and 55 cm) - doors for bathrooms and storerooms, as well as the doors of double doors;
• 70 cm - kitchen doors;
• 80 cm - interior doors for residential premises;
• 90 cm - input.

How to choose the right size canvas

But there is another way - to order the door of the right size. Or use sliding doors that are not so tied to the size of the opening. Their height and width can be several centimeters more.

Thickness
