How to trim the ceiling in the house
Ceiling decoration is one of the important tasks in the repair of premises. This is due to the fact that when entering the room it is fully visible, and due to the incidence of light on it all defects are visible. In addition, the finishing material must have decorative properties and be easy to maintain. Consequently, in each case, it is necessary to choose how to trim the ceiling in a private house, and apply the appropriate version of the finishing coating, because it differs not only in its properties, but also in cost.
Finishing options

All existing options for finishing coatings can be divided into the following:
- Mounted on a flat surface.
- Installed on an uneven surface.
Their difference lies in the fact that the flat surface can be trimmed with any material practically without any restrictions.
Stretch ceiling

Stretch ceilings are stretched PVC canvas, attached to the walls or ceiling with special locks. When properly installed, you get a perfectly flat surface, which can have not only different colors, but also on which different prints can be applied. The coating has a long service life, it is easy to care for. However, the most vulnerable spot is a thin stretched canvas. Ceilings are able to withstand significant temperature differences, but within certain limits. That is, when freezing or overheating, they lose their properties and must be replaced. If damage is caused due to operation or poor installation, installation of a new blade will also be required. Sometimes it can be repaired, but it will take a lot of time, and the result may not be achieved. You can install them in almost any residential and office premises, as well as in places with high humidity. The main disadvantage of stretch ceilings is the complexity of installation. Without experience, it will not be possible to install it, since it should be uniformly heated to an elastic state and gently tightened on the fasteners. If the canvas was cut to the wrong size, then folds may occur or there may not be enough material around the edges. The advantages include the fact that such a ceiling hides almost any defects.
Leveling with drywall or plywood

Alignment with drywall or plywood, followed by whitewashing, pasting with wallpaper or with the help of hanging decorative plates. If there are significant defects in the ceiling and there is no desire to spend time on their elimination, this option is the most acceptable.
Note! The properties of drywall can be selected in accordance with the characteristics of the room. Due to the application of a special composition, the material may have refractory or waterproofing properties.
During installation, you can use a frame made of wood or metal profiles, which should be fixed at a height below the largest projections of the ceiling, that is, at the so-called zero level. In the space between the ceiling and drywall, you can lay an additional layer of insulation. Due to the good workability of gypsum, it is possible to form not only a flat ceiling, but also complex multi-tiered forms, which will allow creating a unique atmosphere in the room. Since it is quite fragile, it should be installed together or using a special lift.
The joints are coated with a primer and sealed with putty, and sealed at the top with a mesh, which ultimately results in a solid and even ceiling surface. After that, you can produce exterior trim. The method is relatively inexpensive and practical. The disadvantage is the loss of some space. However, it is possible to use it with advantage for the installation of insulation of the room.
Lining or plastic panels

Paneling is a universal method of obtaining a modern exterior of the premises, almost without making special efforts for this. Since wooden lining is a natural material, it can create a special indoor climate. It has the properties of heat and sound insulation, is easily processed and has an aesthetic appearance. From the inside, special channels can be cut for wiring and other communications. In terms of strength and performance, it is not inferior to other modern building materials, but at a cost much more expensive. Perhaps you should pay attention to the plastic panel. Though unnatural, they are resistant to high humidity, they are easy to install, have a significant service life and do not require special care. Plastic weight is small, so you do not have to spend money on powerful guides and strengthen the design of floors.
Finishing ceilings with a smooth surface

If the surface of the ceiling is flat, then you can use other finishes that are available without prior alignment of the ceiling.
Whitewash
Whitewashing is one of the easiest ways to finish the ceiling. It is cheap, quickly applied and dries, but it does not withstand high moisture in the room and begins to crack and crumble. It will not be possible to clean such ceilings from dirt and dust, as the coating will wash off or indelible stains and stains will remain. Therefore, to use in kitchens and bathrooms whitewashing should not be. When applied, it covers all surfaces so that it does not get on the fabric or equipment, and also put on special clothes and use gloves and glasses.
Note! It will be much cheaper to install a facing coating on flat ceilings than on a surface with defects. This is due to the fact that you do not need to spend money on plaster, guides and other consumables, depending on the types of ceilings.
Paint the ceiling

Another equally simple option is to apply paint to the ceiling. With the right type of paint, it can last much longer whitewash and not be afraid of the effects of moisture. The process of painting can be performed by any person, even one who has absolutely no experience in the finishing work. The finished coating can be washed and repainted.
Pasting the ceiling wallpaper

This option will allow you to get any color suitable for any room design. In addition, modern types of wallpaper can be chosen for their composition and quality of the base in a wide range of price ranges, which makes them accessible to most people. You can also use the canvas with three-dimensional embossed, which will hide the small irregularities of the ceiling.
When sticking, you need to have experience and two workers, because after applying glue to canvas, the wallpapers become heavy and can easily tear. A large amount of glue for cheap wallpaper is critical, as they soak and become useless, and when glued and hit the front of the glued canvas cause the appearance of indelible stains. The important point is to create a tight fit to the ceiling and the exclusion of air bubbles. After gluing, you need to create an environment that excludes drafts, so as not to disrupt the wallpaper.
Pasting ceiling tiles

Ceiling tiles can create the effect of stucco and give the original look to the room. An absolutely flat surface is not required for it. Even one person can glue tiles to the ceiling, because it is light. However, you need to be careful and not press on the front part, as it is soft and even small scratches and dents will be visible on it. If desired, they can lay out a specific pattern, so first the starting point is selected, from which the formation of the picture will take place.
Applying liquid wallpaper

They are used to create a luxurious and expensive decor in the room. They are natural fibers, a binder composition and a dye, and the method of their application is similar to plastering. This material is environmentally friendly, has noise insulation properties and is able to create comfort and a warm atmosphere in the room. Wallpapers can be applied to ceilings that have small irregularities. When using them, there is no dust and odor. Due to the elasticity that remains even after drying, you can be sure that the joints in the main material of the ceiling will not crack.
Liquid wallpaper can repel dust and do not accumulate odors. Special care is not required.

Before you finish the ceiling in the house, it is necessary to determine the quality and durability of the ceiling, as well as the budget. Each of the finishing materials has its advantages and disadvantages, so you should consider the main purpose of the room, humidity and temperature inside it. Another factor affecting the choice of finishes is the complexity of the installation work and operational features.
