The house of the profiled bar for shrinkage - a natural
If we tell you that the houses are made of profiled timber for shrinkage and are being prepared, that the aging per year is specifically given so that this shrinkage takes place and that only after a year can the final work be done, then this will be not just the truth, action. Any wooden parts in a single structure will be actively tied to each other throughout the year, this process is called shrinkage, and we will work on it.

What is it and how is it calculated

As with any natural process, shrinkage of a wooden wall is quite normal and normal. First, the tree is experiencing a directional load, and secondly, the shrinkage of a house from a profiled beam of natural humidity is the indicator, starting from which they speak about the magnitude of this process. It is the humidity of the wood that determines the amount of shrinkage.
And now about the components:
- All will be interested in the amount of shrinkage. Moreover, it does not matter at all what type of wood a house will be built from or a garage or a shed. The speed directly depends on the humidity and the structure of the material, so the popular profiled bar shrinks on average up to 5% of the building height, but its competitor, the glued analog will only give 2%, but with natural humidity.
Note! It is not for nothing that we pay so much attention to moisture, the bigger it is, the lower the wall will fall. Therefore, do not rush to carry out finishing work, give the building time for normal shrinkage of the profiled bar to occur.

- Determine the timing. Why year, and this figure sounds in all our materials. The instruction for drying wood tells us that if the building was carried out in winter, then after passing through a winter-summer cycle, the structure under the rays of the sun will dry out and acquire the very normal humidity on which all our calculations are based.
But it was not there, summer is summer discord, spring is also a rainy season, the uniformity of lighting, and the shading of walls, the direction of rain play a significant role in this event. Therefore, the entire annual cycle is exactly what the building needs.
How to consider the process

In stone houses everything is clear drove the ceilings of 3 meters and you can begin to finish, brick will not shrink anywhere. With wooden houses this number will not work, the calculated indicator and the indicator after normal shrinkage will differ from each other: sometimes for a couple, see sometimes for a more tangible size (especially these figures do not match in log houses).
Therefore, we do the following calculation:
- When buying material for construction, pay attention to the date of manufacture or procurement. Of course, for laminated veneer lumber and the price will be small and the humidity is digestible. In this situation, the material passes chamber drying and is already on sale in a normal, salable form, but this is ideal.
Sometimes an underdressed product can be caught, and this is no longer 1-2% shrinkage, but more. Houses, garages, baths from profiled timber under shrinkage with undressed material can give larger numbers than 3-5% for this process;
- Season. Until recently, it was believed that the winter construction of the house is good. Even the cold and problems with the tool were not taken into account. The calculation was based on the fact that in winter the wood is drier (by analogy with the harvesting of wood, which is recommended to be carried out in winter), although this is not at all the case.
But the foundation is clearly recommended to build with persistent positive ambient temperatures. Therefore, the calculation was carried out in the autumn of the foundation, at the end of winter, the beginning of spring - the house. Now there is no such strict gradation, although traditions, for some reason, are maintained, more attention is paid to humidity;
Tip! Sometimes in the process of building walling and roofing is stretched in time. This is extremely not desirable, since the shrinkage of the structure should occur exactly under a full-fledged roof.

- Humidity of the tree is an important indicator in understanding shrinkage, but let's get to it from another side. According to the construction rules, the moisture content of the log should be 10%. Manufacturers of this figure, of course, known.
But in order to bring the log to such moisture, time is needed, and it’s rather big. This factor affects the price policy of wooden beams.
What happens with material 10% moisture in natural conditions? It begins to work like a sponge and absorb moisture, changing its size and configuration, so it is still preferable to take for the purpose of building products with natural moisture.
Note! Even laying the material to absorb moisture does not save the situation. Bolts are absolutely unable to cope with loads, they often break from skewed products, logs or beams can move away or fall out.
If, however, this happens, then you must abandon the pins. And fastenings are carried out by metal brackets (see also the article Felling from a bar for shrinkage: how to avoid problems).
A few nuances for the finished house

The danger of the above-described behavior of wooden beams remains, therefore, for those who want to build a structure made of wood, some recommendations:
- Normal balance is needed in the finished building between ventilation and heating, especially in the first few months. It is not recommended to immediately raise the temperature in rooms above 15 degrees Celsius. The tree must be used to temperature loads. And in general, in the first heating season it is not recommended to raise the temperature above 20 degrees on the same scale;
- Especially carefully it is necessary to monitor the uniformity of warming housing. In the presence of several heat sources, part of the walls should not be allowed to receive fewer degrees cherished than others.
Finally
Building a wooden house with your own hands, do not rush, the tree does not like hustle and speed, watch the beams carefully, especially for those that have already been laid (read also the article House from a beam for two families: advantages).
