Standard timber dimensions - briefly about important
The calculation of the amount of material, even approximate, is important, as it allows you to clearly imagine what work can and should be carried out in the first place, and which can wait, and not only from a technological point of view, but also from a financial one. Knowing the amount of material, you can predict the completion date of work and, in the end, to get to the most important, when you can move into a new house.

So, about the bar and its types.
Lumber is needed different, it needs a lot

A timber in construction has a division that you pay little attention to in everyday life. Indeed, timber is a material of square section, of considerable length.
And there are several:
- Traditional timber is the very same bars and with a section of 100x100 mm or 150x150 mm. Quite popular products they go to the ceiling of ceiling structures, can be used independently in the construction of sheds, garages and various buildings, to participate in the formation of floors. The standard length of the timber in this case will be 6 m;
Note! Sometimes in the literature you can find information about the so-called bar rounded. This is a slightly wrong name, because, in fact, timber is the process of sawing logs. There is no such technological process, when a bar is received from a log and again it is turned into a log, this is absurd. And there is a process of processing wooden trunks, which results in a rounded log without bark, of uniform diameter, having a discharge groove and ready for construction.
- The bar is profiled, the most interesting material, since as a result of processing not only the cutting of edges to square section occurs, but combinations are possible when one side is semicircular and in fact is a slab of a log, the second is flat. The upper and lower edges of such a product will have special grooves that allow you to assemble a house or any other structure using classical technology, but much faster. The standard dimensions of a wooden beam are 6 m long, and the section can be of several types from 135x280 to 270x240 mm. Intermediate options are also possible;

Interesting to know! As you have already noticed, the length of a standard timber is 6 m, but this absolutely does not mean that manufacturers will not be able to make longer beams. Everything is done only under the order, and the price of such a product will be higher.
- There is another development that allows you to expand the possibilities of wood and its use in construction. It is called glued timber.
This product is now the most demanded:
- first, it is the same profiled bar, but consisting of pieces, which greatly increases its capabilities;
- secondly, due to foliation, the price of such a product will be lower than that of solid wood.
For comparison, the standard dimensions of glued timber (for example, from larch) are not only 6, but 12 m, which allows you to build a solid wall without building up and additional seams, through which cold and wind can leak (even if theoretically). According to the conventional section, these products completely repeat the usual profiled beam.
And although the traditional varieties of wood for construction are pine and spruce, but as a VIP variety, cedar is often used, larch has proved itself well.
Good advice - smart use

Useful advice can be followed, but you can not follow.
However, in any case, listen to them is still worth it, especially since they are in the case, so:
- Products from coniferous trees often go to the construction of external walls and floor beams, floor sheathing. For interior decoration works, more expensive and richer products in hardwood (linden, oak, ash, beech) are used in terms of pattern and color saturation;
- When choosing beams, pay special attention to the method of storage, packaging and appearance of products. Remember that when the moisture content of a tree increases to 30%, its strength decreases by a factor of 1.5, which in turn can lead to deformation of the beam during drying, as well as other defects;
- If you choose profiled timber or glued profiled timber, then after inspecting the condition of the tree, pay attention to the condition of the grooves, they must be even, without gross damage. The whole point here is that the design of this lock itself prevents moisture from entering the inter-timber space, and, consequently, the decay of wood. The presence of damage can provide such an opportunity;

Note! Glued laminated timber looks more preferable than its solid congener. And the stated standard timber size is impressive, and the price offered by the sellers is small. Some masters will even tell you that such a timber, or rather the house of it, does not shrink. A shrinkage is, small, but there is. Therefore, no matter how you would like to immediately begin installing windows and doors, interior decoration, remember that such buildings can sit down a few centimeters, which is not as noticeable as when installing a log house, but, nevertheless, deform window frames or doorways can.
- Any instruction will tell you that the tree is a sponge that can absorb moisture, so if you brought timber and logs and plan not to start building a house right away, it is better to cover the material. The film for this is quite amiss. This is especially important if the material is marketed undried.
Finally

Knowing the dimensions of the beam, you can already take into account the total number and their cost with your own hands, do not forget to enter the percentage amendments. The video in this article is also ready to open the topic, we look (also find out whether it is necessary to warm the house from a bar 150x150).
