Plaster on concrete: classification of finishing material
When a modern person is faced with the broadest assortment of such finishing material as plaster, then the widest range of application of such mixtures and their enormous and diverse decorative possibilities will completely cease to amaze him.
In this variety, plaster under concrete is certainly distinguished, but apart from it there are also decorative, mosaic, Venetian, structural, and many other mixtures that allow you to create completely inconceivable designs.

The huge world called “Plaster” does not stop for a second, but continues to expand and develop in different directions, mastering more and more new areas of use. But, despite this diversity, it is the concrete surface that is the most common basis for applying a finish.
The oldest form of decoration popular to this day
In fact, plaster is a material with an ancient history. It is such a long lifespan that implies the existing extensive classification of this type of finish, depending on the main criteria and characteristics.

Plaster classification
First of all, the separation of mixtures of this kind into two large groups, depending on the principle of manufacture:
- Mix, cooked with his own hands. The preparation of such solutions is available to everyone, thanks to the availability of all the main ingredients of the composition (cement, sand, asbestos, gypsum, etc.);
- Ready mixes. The preparation of solutions of this kind is carried out at the production level.
Among the mixtures that can be prepared independently, you can also select several main types of plaster, depending on the main components:
- Cement-sand or cement - in the recipe of this composition, cement and sand are present in a ratio of 1 to 3;
- Lime-sand or lime - in this case, instead of cement used lime;
- Cement-lime - uses two ingredients in equal shares;
- Lime-gypsum - gypsum flour acts as an additional ingredient in this material;
- Clay - such plaster is used more often in the decoration of furnace structures, although it looks great on surfaces of a different type;
- Lime-clay - a mixture that combines all the positive qualities of the main components.

Ready-made plasters are mixtures that can be divided into two large groups depending on the form in which they arrive on the shelves of building stores:
- Dry mixes are available in bags or bags. This package contains a mixture of all the necessary components that must be diluted with water before being applied to the surface;
Note! The price of dry blends is often the lowest, but their use is not always possible and does not guarantee high quality finishes.
- Ready-made solutions of paste consistency - such a product is immediately ready for application to the surface to be finished.
Council Before opening the package, the instruction specifies the need to keep the composition at room temperature for several hours. And also do not forget to check the shelf life of products.

Dry formulations have the following classification:
- Lime-gypsum - such materials on the modern market are represented and in demand in a large volume;
- Mosaic - in the mixtures of this kind there is a stone crumb, which allows creating on the surface an amazing effect of Sulfur, a person who has proved his whole life to people the extraordinary beauty of colored dots in the world around us;
- Mineral - an amazing material for interior decoration, which is endowed with excellent insulation and environmental parameters due to specialized additives;
- Decorative - the brightest representative of such a finishing material, such as plaster for cellular concrete and other types of surfaces, and both for interior decoration and outside.
Ready-made plasters that come to the market in the form of paste is a material that is created using the latest scientific developments to achieve maximum strength and best performance characteristics of the resulting coating.
Mixtures of this type can be divided into the following types:
- Acrylic - the most popular and demanded among the ready-made mixtures, due to the fact that the plaster of foam concrete blocks and other surfaces with the help of this kind of material creates the most protected from external influences coating;
- Silicone - silicone allows you to improve the vapor permeability of the coating, so this plaster for foam concrete and other cellular materials is best suited;
- Silicate - the material is simply indispensable in the design of the walls on the basement due to its moisture resistance;
- Mineral - do not contain harmful impurities and are perfect for finishing surfaces of any type;
- Created on the basis of nanotechnology - today this class of finishing materials is not widespread, but at the same time it is becoming more and more confident in its position in the market due to its unique operational and external characteristics.

Plastering walls
The full cycle of all surface finishing works directly depends on what goals the owners pursue and what appearance they wish to achieve. (See also the article Aerated concrete facing: how to do.)
But there are the following main stages of creating coverage:
- Training;
- Kneading and coating;
- Artistic design space.

Preliminary preparation
Preparation of concrete surfaces for plastering is necessary and simply obligatory.
Preparations are made as follows:
- Removal of all unreliable pieces of concrete, which is produced by the method of churning;
Council At this stage, you can even expand the existing slots in order to remove weak parts of the structure.
- We ground the surfaces of the cracks and knock down the projections with the help of various tools;
- We clean the surface from dust and dirt;
- Leave the base, giving it the opportunity to dry.
After all the preparatory procedures are completed, control of the slope and flatness of the surface should be carried out.
This control is carried out in 2 stages:
- The two-meter rule controls the absence of gouges and protrusions on the surface;
- Control by two points on the surface determine the slope. Points should be located at a distance of 4 m among themselves. Thus, the control should be performed at least three times.

Surface reinforcement
For additional durability and reliability of the surface, reinforce the surface before plastering polystyrene concrete blocks.
This can be done in three ways:
- Mesh - most often it is a metal mesh, or a mesh of synthetics;
- Beacon profiles - such products are installed along the wall in a vertical direction with a distance between the profiles of 0.8-1.2 m. Such devices will not only strengthen the finishing layer, but also simplify the alignment of the layer;

- Grid and beacon profiles - in this case it will turn out not only to strengthen the surface and simplify the alignment of the solution, but also to reduce the cost of fasteners for the grid, that is, it will be fixed with profiles.
Note! Mounting mortar or diamond drilling of holes in concrete for fasteners with self-tapping screws can be used for fastening profiles.
Preparation and application of plaster

We have previously answered the question of what to plaster claydite-concrete blocks, monolithic or block concrete walls, it remains only to figure out how to do it correctly.
First you need to prepare the solution according to the instructions on the package with the mixture, if dry concrete plaster was chosen.
Plaster technology for concrete provides for the possibility of both manual and mechanical sprinkling of the solution on the surface. After the finishing mass is applied to the wall, it is leveled using the rule, which must be moved along the beacons established during the surface reinforcement stage.
It is necessary to make the subsequent finishing after the first layer of plaster dries completely or at least grabs. (See also the article Putty for concrete: how to do.)

Note! After all the work, both construction and finishing, will be completed, if you want to cut through a new door or window opening or expand the existing ones, you should apply such a method as cutting reinforced concrete with diamond circles.
Finally
Concrete plaster is an excellent finishing material, which can create the surface of the primary layer or be a material for creating a finishing decorative layer.
The main thing to understand is that plastering of concrete is absolutely necessary. And to learn more about how and with what to do this will allow you to video in this article.
