Larch laminated veneer lumber: practicality and
Larch glued timber 80 x 80 is a modern building material with significant advantages in comparison with timber from other wood species. The implementation of this type of material grows with enviable consistency (10-15% per year). In some countries, this material is fundamental in the construction of private structures.

Deciduous timber, for example, will cost a little more than the same size of pine, however, surpassing the pine material at times in quality characteristics. The price of timber is directly dependent on the type of raw material from which the material is produced.
Demand for material
In comparison with conventional, profiled, unglued lumber, glued timber from larch is made on expensive high-tech equipment, so the cost of production is naturally higher. This factor reflects the final cost (also find out how to choose the interior design of a wooden house from a bar).
Noticeable benefits
Why, despite the high enough price, the demand for glued material does not fall, but on the contrary, it only increases with time? The fact is that buyers, as well as builders, have already been convinced from their own experience - a tree of this type has a considerable range of clear advantages in comparison with a conventional bar or rounded logs.

Here are some of these benefits:
- Considering the fact that, during the production of glued larch products, boards of reduced thickness are used, a mandatory drying process in a special chamber is applied to them. Indeed, the moisture content of the material should not be higher than 11-12%. One-piece option can not be so qualitatively (without deformation) dried due to its thickness, which, in turn, will shrink the structure during construction.
Must remember! The walls, which are made of laminated material, do not shrink (or it is a negligible degree), so you can safely do finishing work after the end of construction (complete erection of walls and roof).
- In the process of drying boards for the future of laminated veneer lumber, they will be tested for strength - low-quality material will be rejected. In addition, during gluing the boards are laid so that the wood fibers are directed in opposite directions, which will dramatically increase the strength characteristics of the products and prevent from subsequent deformation of the timber.
- Glued profiled larch timber, in contrast to the usual one, whose length is limited to 6 meters, is not limited in length. Its strength data is homogeneous over the entire duration, which can hardly be said of solid material, which is prone to deformation at the joints of the bars.
Note! Larch glued beams have excellent filtration characteristics, which is very useful for the human respiratory tract. Larch tends to secrete phytoncides in a variety that disinfects the air, making it healthier and cleaner.

Know The presence of a considerable amount of resins makes such a bar practically unaffected by fungi and other wood diseases, which is especially valuable for health!
Manufacturing process
Glued laminated timber - the newest building material, which has high qualities for durability and is environmentally friendly.
Production takes place in two stages:
- Lumber preparatory process;
- Direct production of timber.
Sub-steps of production
These activities are carried out in an industrial environment using complex equipment.
Stages, in addition to this, are divided into sub-steps:
- Kruglyak is a raw material for production. For a start, it is cut into slats - rather narrow boards;
- Kruglyak is sawn so that it leaves as much as possible of the final product, while leaving as little waste as possible;
- Then the boards are subjected to a drying process (8-10 days in convection chambers) and air conditioning;
- They are sorted and connected by length.

Further, to get glued larch timber, it is necessary:
- Complete the planing of dry planks;
- Then glue the processed boards into a block. To do this, use a special glue that penetrates into the wood and gives it extra strength. The tree at the same time does not lose its properties.
Know The timber ultimately consists of planks with a different direction of the cut, causing this very long life of the finished building material.

This production method makes it possible to obtain a timber several times superior to solid wood in strength. The finished glued material may consist of different amounts of lamellas, ranging from three to five layers. Due to this fact it is possible to get products of different thickness.
Glued billet goes to the next stage:
- it is profiled as well as leveled from different sides;
- then it is covered with a special chemical composition in order to give the tree resistance to mold and moisture, fire resistance.
This technology provides the ability to manufacture such building materials, structures and buildings from which they will serve for many years, without requiring any special maintenance costs.

Gluing
Of great importance in the process of production of larch lumber is the composition of the glue.
To date, the manufacture uses high-quality glue, which is specifically intended for such bonding, and therefore it:
- does not contain harmful compounds and does not emit toxins;
- safe for humans and the environment;
- as much as possible promotes preservation of pitches and antioxidants which are available as a part of a larch and favorably influence an organism.
In addition to the above, modern adhesives:
- without smell;
- are non-combustible;
- possess remarkable bonding strength as well;
- have full water resistance.

Some additional nuances
Profiled glued timber is a universal building material, which is often used in the construction of country houses and cottages. Building such houses is much faster and easier, and the result will highlight your building in a special “exhibition” beauty.
Most often, coniferous forests, in particular, larch, are used as raw materials, as in our case. The assembly is carried out either on a high-tech industrial enterprise, or on special home equipment.
In order to ensure quality, the technology of assembling timber must be observed strictly by the rules. For such handicrafts there is a specific instruction.
Tip! It is best to use eco-friendly, like wood material, water-based glue. This adhesive composition will allow the wood to pass through itself moisture and air - “breathe”.

Glued larch windows
Windows made of laminated veneer lumber are very popular in Russia.
This is explained quite simply: such material as larch is a tree unique in its characteristics:
- First of all, the tree is very resinous, so that the wood is resistant to all sorts of adverse natural phenomena and decay. It has long been in Siberia that railway sleepers were made of this tree without any chemical treatment, which served for half a century and more.
- The tree perfectly resists to aggressive environments (sea water) and humidity in general.
- The material is very dense (unlike pine), which speaks of its hardness and strength.
All these properties are very important not only for window frames, but also for window sills. It is difficult to imagine a situation when a heavy object falls on a window installed vertically. But in relation to the window sill it happens quite often. In this case, the window sill of glued larch fits the way (by looking here, what are the advantages of glued cedar beams).
