How to build a house of aerated concrete with their own
Construction of residential buildings made of cellular concrete is becoming increasingly popular due to the high rates of heat saving and durability. You can often hear stories from the series “How I Built a House of Aerated Concrete”, listing the advantages of this material and describing the simplicity of the method. We will not rely on emotions and just show you how to build a house of aerated concrete yourself.

Preparatory stage
Design

First of all, you should attend to the project. The story of a neighbor about how I built a house of aerated concrete is useful, but not enough information for such a serious event as capital construction.
For the same reason, designing amateurs should not be trusted; it is better to find a competent engineer or architect who can make all the necessary calculations and choose the most rational configuration of the future building.
Project documentation should include the following sections:
- Calculation of loads from the whole structure and selection of the type, material and parameters of the foundation;
- Determination of the thickness of the bearing walls and partitions based on calculations of the loads from the effects of their weight, as well as external forces and internal stresses of materials;
- Determination of the need for reinforcement, indicating the location of the reinforcement, its diameter and the number of rods in each row;
- Calculation of the expected stresses inside the material in terms of the need for expansion joints with an indication of their location and parameters;
- Draft roof system and roofing pie;
- Data on the internal and external decoration of aerated concrete, electrical wiring, plumbing and engineering communications;
- The economic part with a detailed estimate for the purchase of materials and work (in the case of hiring professional builders).

Note! This is only a rough listing of sections, in practice, the document can be replenished with new points depending on the specific features of the project, conditions of construction and the wishes of the designer.
It’s not worth saving on the project, this is the case when the miser pays twice, because in case of mistakes you can incur serious losses, and even a perfectly executed job will be in vain.
Site preparation

Before you build a house of aerated concrete, you must prepare a construction site. It is advisable to flatten it, to perform the markup, to ensure the passage of technology, to consider the location of functional areas.
Most likely, you will need a bungalow with a room for the storage of building materials, you should also ensure the supply of electricity. In addition, it is desirable to provide illumination of work areas and reliable fencing.

Often at this stage earthworks are carried out for laying pipes of sewage and water supply. For convenience, you can immediately make the paths for movement from the warehouse to the construction site and think about the path of passage of equipment inside the object.
At the end, when the site is ready, you can purchase materials and bring them to the site.

Attention! Aerated concrete should be stored indoors, as it can deteriorate during a long stay in the open air without protection from precipitation.
Construction works
Foundation

Aerated concrete belongs to light construction materials, and therefore there is a perception that there is no need for a solid foundation here. But we are talking about how to build a house of aerated concrete correctly, which means we will do everything according to the standards.
SNiP defines aerated concrete as a block wall material, therefore, a foundation of stone and / or reinforced concrete is obligatory for it.
The most suitable types are as follows:
- Recessed or T-shaped shallow tape;
- Bored piling with reinforced concrete grillage;
- Monolithic concrete slab;
- Ribbon squared shallow foundation.

Recently, monolithic foundations are most often used for the construction of aerated concrete buildings, as they are strong, durable, reliable and easy to perform. To manufacture them, it is enough to perform formwork according to the project in which the reinforcement grid is laid, and to fill it with ready-mixed concrete using vibration.

Note! Building a foundation without a project will require a significant margin of safety, which will significantly affect the cost of construction. This difference will easily cover the cost of design, the price of which does not greatly affect the overall estimate.
Walls and floors

For masonry blocks, you should use a special glue for aerated concrete and a metering notched trowel that will help to apply the correct equal amount of glue. So get almost seamless monolithic masonry, in which there are no cold bridges and deviations in geometry.
Cutting reinforced concrete with diamond circles and diamond drilling of holes in concrete is not required here, as the blocks are easy to handle with jigsaws and hand-held power tools.
Step-by-step instructions for the laying of aerated concrete walls:
- Perform horizontal waterproofing cut-off. To do this, lay the euro-ruberoid on the surface of the grillage or plate in two layers;

- We prepare glue according to the manufacturer's instructions. As a rule, the dry mixture is mixed with water and stirred to the state of thick cream with a mixer or manually;

- We start laying the first row, for this we apply glue with a ladle and remove excess with a notched trowel. The dosage of glue and the thickness of the layer should be maintained as carefully as possible;

- When the series is finished, we check its horizontal position with a level or level, after which we level the surface with a plane for aerated concrete. Then we cut two longitudinal grooves in the blocks, into which we place the reinforcement with a diameter of 8 mm at a distance of at least 60 mm from the outer edge;

- Next, sweep away dust and debris and continue laying from the corners. Reinforcement is repeated after 4 rows, it will also be required in the support zones of the jumpers and under the window openings. Level drops between adjacent blocks are not allowed, so each row should be leveled with a plane or a grater, and every 3 rows checked with a level;

- Internal partitions lay out also, we recommend laying out air-filled materials under the blocks, they can also be laid in the places of adjacency of partitions to the bearing walls;

- Floor wall box must end with reinforcement belton which the partition walls are laid. Aerated concrete slabs can be used on spans of less than 6 meters;

- Upon completion of the entire box, you should lay the beams of the attic floor and build a power plate..

Note! After the walls are erected, you should proceed to the installation of the roof, so that the material is not exposed to precipitation.
Conclusion
The construction of a gas concrete building requires the implementation of a certain technology, which is shown in the video in this article and in our instructions. As a result, you get a warm and durable home for the whole family.
