How many cubes of lumber is needed in the 6x4 bath:

Building

For lovers of a steam room, and indeed for home craftsmen, we will now discuss how many cubes of lumber are needed in a 6x4m bath according to a certain project. Of course, the focus will be on these dimensions, but the main thing here is that you will learn how to independently calculate the materials for construction.

After all, you can build not only by these sizes and not only a bath, but also a house, and this will be discussed below, and as a bonus, you are offered the video in this article.

Bath from a bar 4 by 6 meters

Construction from a wooden bar

A bath or the same houses from timber 4 by 6 meters is a construction consisting of three main elements of the box - this is the foundation, walls and roof. The decoration of the building, both inside and outside, is a completely different topic, but now we are interested in the box and timber in this case, not only for walls.

First of all, for the calculation it should be noted that the timber can be both smooth and profiled, so that we now find out how much it is needed and what it is used for.

Do you need a timber for the foundation

Types of strip foundation
  • The foundation of this type is a monolithic or team tape, which is immersed in the ground at a certain depth. A stone or brick base can be built on top of it, but in any case, the lower crown of the log house is installed directly on the tape (not counting waterproofing). Therefore, for the installation of such a base wooden beam as a separate element is not needed.
Screw piles with wooden top grillage
  • A bath or a house from a 6 to 4 m timber has a low weight, therefore, a pile foundation of screw or bored piles is often laid under it. In these cases, the rods must exactly follow the contours defined by the design plan, according to which the foundation for the log house is mounted. Here it is necessary that the pile was at every corner and every place of intersection of the walls, and they are also needed in the interval 2-2.5 m from each other. On them, under the lower crown of the log house, a grillage is installed, which can be either from a metal profile or from a wooden bar.
Column foundation with wooden grillage
  • In the same way as on stilts, baths and houses from a 4x6m bar can be erected on a column foundation and the main difference here is that a well is needed for the pile, and a small trench for the column. The columns are made of brick or masonry, as well as monolithic reinforced concrete slabs, but otherwise everything else remains the same. The number of timber (grillage) under the lower rim depends on the project plan of the structure.

Council For a wooden grillage, you need durable lumber, and therefore for this purpose you usually use a smooth timber section of 150 x 50 mm or 200 x 50 mm. Set it on its side (ruba).

The walls of the bath

Project plan for a sauna with your own hands from a bar 6x4m
  • In the upper photo you see the design plan of the log-shaped bath with the specified dimensions and, using this drawing, we will calculate the amount of the required material. On the forums, the question of how many cubes of lumber are needed in a 6x4m bath is most often advised to do the ordering, that is, count how many profile rows will go on one wall. And this is the most practical approach to solving the problem, but if we are not talking about things, but about cubic capacity, then, first of all, you need to decide on the thickness of the walls being erected.
Parameters of profiled timber
  • If you pay attention to the profile parameters, you will notice that its similarity is only in height, and the width may be completely different, and if you build a bath or a house from a 4x6 m beam, you can save money on construction using different geometric parameters. The fact is that external or load-bearing walls, as they are often called due to special functionality, should be thicker and this is necessary both to keep the floor and to keep the heat in the room. Therefore, partitions can be made of thinner materials, because they do not need to retain heat (at least, to such an extent) and the roof structure does not hold onto them.

Council When building a house or a bathhouse made of wood, before starting a project into operation, it takes time to shrink the structure, and this can take from 10 to 12 months. To avoid a long wait, you can purchase a chamber drying beam, that is, the structure of such material can be immediately used for operation or finishing works.

Corner joint timber
  • So now you can subtract the full volume of the beam for the entire perimeter, and it will be 420000 * 250 * 130 = 13650 mm3= 13,65 m3. The same calculations can be done in a different way, by calculating separately the cubature of each profile, for example, 0.25 * 0.13 * 6 = 0.195m3then 0.195m3* 21 * 2 = 8.19m3 on six-meter walls and 0.25 * 0.13 * 4 = 0.13 m3then 0.13m3* 21 * 2 = 5.46m3 на четырёхметровые стены. 5,46+8,19= 13,65 m3, or the same result as the first method.
Spike profile joint
3 on four-meter partitions. On the two-meter partition will go - 2 * 21 * 0.095 * 0.13 * = 0.5187m3, and on one and a half meters - 1.5 * 21 * 0.095 * 0.13 = 0.389025 m3. A total of 2.0748 + 0.5187 + 0.389025 = 2.982525 m will be required for partitions.3 or three cubes.
  • Now let's try another way: in the four-meter profile 4 * 0.095 * 0.13 = 0.0494 m3and in the whole partition 0.0494 * 21 = 1.0374 m3but in two - 1.0374 * 2 = 2.0748 m3. In the two-meter bar - 2 * 0.095 * 0.13 = 0.0247 m3, in the partition - 0.0247 * 21 = 0.5187 m3; in one and a half meter material - 1.5 * 0.095 * 0.13 = 0.018525 m3, and in the partition - 0,018525 * 21 = 0.389025 m3. All together it will be 2.0748 + 0.5187 + 0.389025 = 2.982525 m3 or three cubes - as you can see, both methods give the same result.
  • As you remember, for the bearing walls we needed 13.65m3, and for thin partitions - 2.982525 m3it means that we will need a profiled bar 13.65 + 2.982525 = 16.632525 m on all walls3 or 17 cubes. Knowing the price of a single cube in your area, you can easily determine the total cost of a profiled bar for construction.

Roof

Gable roof device
  • Pay attention to the device gable roof, and you will see that for the frame again, you need a timber, only already smooth. Step rafters instruction allows you to do from 0.4 to 1.0m - it all depends on the height of the roof and the higher it is, the step.

Conclusion

Do not forget that the timber is needed not only for the walls, but also for the roof and the floor of the building. Of course, the lumber here is a different configuration, but it is not difficult to calculate it, you only need to know the size of the building.
