Houses made of logs and logs - from comparison to

Building

A tree house is beautiful, soundly, now, even fashionable. Builders will build everything you want, from an ordinary house to fabulous mansions, if, of course, financial opportunities allow.

Here are the bars. And here are the logs.

That's just the choice of material still remains for you. In our material you are expected: a comparison of the basic building materials of wood, timber and logs, as well as instructions for the construction of the house of timber and the house of logs.

Timber or log, what to choose

Photos of the construction of the house of timber.

In fact, both timber and log are the core of the tree, which was processed in the best way and is ready for use for its intended purpose. Having somewhat broadened the topic under consideration, I would like to note that a timber can be glued, that is, composed of several fragments, the log is always a solid tree.

So let's start the comparison:

  • Naturalness and environmental friendliness. These two parameters recently clearly included in the top three. These products are equally environmentally friendly;
  • Price. What is cheaper house from a log or timber? This is a completely non-trivial question for which there is no definite answer. The fact is that the log itself is cheaper than a timber, this is primarily due to the fact that in addition to the direct process of cylindering and the manufacture of the unloading groove with the log do nothing, this is already a finished product.

You will have to tinker with the bar, make the necessary joining surface, and cut side edges. But laying a log is considered a more expensive process;

  • Warming Properly and professionally assembled log house does not need warming, but the house from the timber is already necessary to warm. These are extra costs for money, but great opportunities for design;
But analogue of logs.
  • A house made of timber or logs will not be classified as heavy, therefore it does not require a serious foundation (unless underground premises or several floors are provided);
  • Projects of houses made of logs and timber have exactly the same architectural possibilities, and even construction techniques will differ little from each other. True, in matters of the technology of joining logs or timber, the former will be more complicated than the latter, but this is discussed in the corresponding chapter;
  • Houses made of logs and lumber have the same drawbacks, namely:
  1. Although houses are fairly quickly assembled, a year will pass from the start of construction to the installation;
  2. Houses made of timber or logs are equally susceptible to the action of fungus, mold and bark beetles, protection is obligatory;
  3. It must be remembered that even with good anti-inflammatory treatment, wood is an excellent combustible material, in both cases it is necessary to consider all fire prevention measures.

Now we are building

Before the construction of the foundation will deliver the material.

The stage to which this chapter is devoted is equally the same as for log buildings and for houses from a bar. The construction of wooden houses from timber and logs begins with the foundation. Due to the fact that the wooden buildings are not stone (less heavy), then the foundation of them is capital, especially to anything.

In this case, according to the construction technology, there are three types of supports for houses:

  • The first - piles. It can be both piles made by hands at the construction site, or finished metal piles, which are also installed on site and serve as excellent supports for buildings of this type;
  • The second is tapes. In this case, strip foundations can be cast as well as prefabricated. These supports are classified as capital, are built if the construction plan has underground rooms (for example, bath, shed, basement, garage and other rooms), or the building is planned on 2 or more floors;

Interesting to know! Although wood belongs to the category of strong materials, but the construction of a wooden house above three floors is not recommended.

  • The third is a base plate. This type is typical for small houses and cottages, mostly single-storey, country-type.

In this material, we consider the first type of foundation piles, and the piles are those that can be built independently on the spot.

This is done as follows:

  • Earthen drill hole drilled to the level of soil freezing;

Note! If the level of soil freezing is more than 1 meter, you will still have to use the services of special equipment or opt for metal supports.

The principle is the same: piles and lintel.
  • The bottom of the hole is aligned 10 cm with a layer of rubble and sand;
  • After the construction of four parts, welded together by segments of reinforcement in such a way that a quadrangular tube is formed, whose diameter will be less than the diameter of the hole by 10 cm, is laid on the formed rubble sand cushion;
  • A small formwork up to 20 cm tall is made near each support;
  • A cement solution is poured into each well at a ratio of 1: 3, where one part of the cement contains three parts of sand, the solution covers the entire pile. For the joining of the grillage, which is formed from the channel, in the reinforcing structure of the pile one corner is left 15 cm longer than the others, based on the calculation that the main part of the pile pile is 5 cm covered with cement, and 10 cm remains at the dock;
  • Stilts need to stand for at least two weeks, after which the framework of a channel will be welded in place, which will repeat the perimeter of the house completely.

Good to know! Piles are constructed on the basis of each angle and each branch, one, as well as one for every 1.5 meters of the structure.

From supports to walls

Use of moss for warming.

The construction of houses from timber and logs, on the basis described above, is good because the level of the masonry is already aligned with the channel, and does not require additional leveling. Next, begin the features on which we will definitely focus on your attention, and here is the first one.

Note! The house from a bar in the beginning is established without the base. This was done to ensure that the design took the load, and the logs laid down as it should. In this collected state, the house will be bored for a year. In the technology of building a house from a bar, the beam goes right to the base, only after it is assembled, it must be defended a year before finishing.

And this is

And then everything is simple:

  • The first timber is installed on the channel, in the case of a log, it will be a log of somewhat larger diameter, preferably oak or larch. Fastening is best done with bolts, it is both safer and more durable, it is natural that wood and especially joints should be treated with a special compound. Between the channel and the first crown it is necessary to lay the roofing material in two layers;
  • Separately, we make and ways to dock beams and logs. For a timber, this is a “thorn in a groove” mount, for a log, the simplest and most frequently used method is “in a cup”, although the “thorn in a groove” method is not only acceptable for a log, but is also considered the only one that protects the corners from drafts.

Not all are taken for it, because of the complexity, prefer to work "in the cup." However, it is necessary to voice the fact that, although the method is practiced, it has one of two disadvantages: either the material consumption increases, since it is necessary to leave part of the material, or the area of the dwelling itself decreases;

  • Docking of the building material of different crowns is exactly the same. The same dug-ups, which are tightly driven into two adjacent logs with a one-meter step, are all the same jute insulation. Although for logs sometimes moss or tow is used in the old fashioned way.

At the same time, laying technology between the bars implies simple stapling with a construction stapler, and the insulation technology of a log building implies laying a layer of insulation more than a centimeter thick, and above doors and windows in 5, with the final laying of the insulation in the grooves occurring after the entire ensemble shrinks.

It is also possible to use a special insulated beam.

About the roof

For a small house, the roof may be flat.

We build houses from logs and beams and we have some differences in the installation of insulation, fixing beams together. So at the stage of installing the roof all the differences disappear altogether.

We started the same way, and ended the same way:

  • The same mauelrats, the same rafters, the same battens;
  • And then hydro-barriers, heaters, roof finish.

On a note! If you plan to use the attic under the attic or a full floor, then the insulation of the roof and floors of the event is mandatory.

Finally

You can still argue about logs and lumber, but the main sounded. The video in this article has prepared a visualization of the theme (also learn how to properly heat the house from a bar outside to create a comfortable atmosphere in it).
