Dry planed timber - scope
Various lumber used in construction for the construction of houses from scratch, for interior decoration, as well as for auxiliary work on the creation of formwork, temporary fences and scaffolding. There is a need for wood raw materials and in the furniture industry.
For all these works, bars and boards of different quality are required, having undergone some preliminary processing or without it.

One of the most popular materials is wooden beams:
- crude, draft - the most inexpensive of similar construction materials, is applied to construction of temporary protections, to a timbering, to a scaffolding;
- calibrated - this is exactly the size given, it is used for finishing and building houses;
- planed, dried in the chambers, high-quality lumber, does not require additional finishing.
Planed timber
Such material is very necessary in construction and furniture production. The moisture rate for these materials should be from 12 to 18%. The humidity indicator is easily checked by a special device, which is called - the moisture meter.
Any dried board or rail weighs much more easily in comparison with a similar material, even if it is planed, but not processed in a drying chamber. The price of a raw planed board is cheaper than a dry one, but if you do construction work yourself, then working with such material with your own hands is much easier. And he doesn’t need additional finishing.

Bars and bars
In accordance with the standards that guide the construction industry, the definition of a bar or dry bar is suitable for such wooden lumber, the cross section of which is a square, and the length ranges from two to six meters.
All these materials are divided into:
- sawn;
- and planed.
In the former, the surface is not subjected to additional processing after sawing, while in the latter, the upper layer of chips is cut off and the surface becomes smooth.
Planed products can be used for wall decoration, as well as for the manufacture of furniture frames.
Manufacturing

Planed timber is obtained by cutting and grinding ordinary sawn. When machining from all four sides, the material becomes resistant to possible cracking.
Smooth polished surfaces cause it is widely used in the manufacture of structures with high quality finishing surfaces that do not need further processing. (See also the article Docking beam by length - options for connections)
Important. It should be understood that from the workpiece, which serves as a cut beam of one of the sections according to GOST 8486-86, in the process of processing 5 mm of wood are removed from each of the sides to be touched. It is possible to get a dry planed bar 40x40 from the original 50x50 mm cut-off section.
Planed materials can be divided by degree of dryness into the following groups:
- with natural humidity of the order of 30-35% and even higher, is made in spring-summer and autumn periods from freshly sawn wood;
- warehouse (natural) drying, made from winter timber, its moisture content is 23-27%; after cutting, this material is stored in a closed, but ventilated room, where its natural drying occurs;
- chamber drying (dry), is obtained by drying in the chambers of a trimmed bar made according to GOST 8486-86, drying takes place in several cycles, at the end of which the material acquires a given level of humidity.
Application area

Planed timber 100x100 and 150x150 is used for the construction of external walls and internal partitions. Its perfectly smooth and smooth surface is appreciated by interior designers.
Products of smaller cross-section are widely used in construction, also in the manufacture of furniture. Dry molding is not subject to deformation, which makes its use in interior decoration preferable.

Storage
Tip! Proper unloading of purchased dry timber is the key to safe storage in the future. It is strictly not allowed to drop the boards directly to the ground.
Unloading must be carried out carefully, manually or by crane, but the material must be immediately stored neatly on the supports located on the ground. They can be made from any timber laid across what you will unload.
Instructions for storing quality timber:
- for the organization of storage in the room it is necessary to carefully prepare it, check whether the moisture accumulates on the surface of the walls, whether the floor is flat, clean and dry in this room;
- ensure free air circulation in the warehouse;
- store the lumber in piles, leaving a gap between them;
- if it is necessary to store lumber on the street, carefully select a place, it must be dry and clean;
- it is desirable to build a shed that protects products from rain, but allows air to circulate freely;
- when it is impossible to build a canopy, the piles are covered with a film, leaving the ends uncovered; in dry weather, the film is removed.
Resume
High-quality, well-dried, smooth-surfaced timber is an indispensable material in the construction and furniture industry. (See also the article House from a bar for two families: benefits) In the presented video in this article you will find additional information on this topic.
