In addition, the overwhelming majority of rings come with internal reinforcement, due to which resistance to deformation is greatly enhanced.
- Equally important is the durability of buildings. Subject to all rules and regulations during production and installation, repair of wells from concrete rings may not be performed within 30 - 50 years.
- Compared with masonry, structures of this type can be built very quickly. If you do not take into account the time for excavation, then the whole structure can be completely mounted within 1 - 3 days.
- The price of this type of product is quite acceptable. Given their durability, this is one of the main reasons for the popularity of reinforced concrete rings in private construction.

- There are few serious flaws. The large weight of the concrete ring for the well causes the use of special equipment. With a significant distance of the object, transportation costs increase, also during installation, lifting equipment and a crew of at least 3 people are required.
- The second drawback with the right approach can be avoided. They are produced in almost all small and large concrete plants. Unfortunately, not all manufacturers are honest, therefore, in the pursuit of cheapness, you can buy a marriage.

Subtleties of installation and production of products
As mentioned earlier, the range of application of this type of structure is quite wide. For different types of structures, different ring configurations and different mounting techniques are used.
Moreover, the simplest structures located on stable soils can be built from hand-made rings. On a number of points that are worth paying attention to, we will discuss further.

The details of the construction of a drinking well
The construction of facilities for drinking water has always required a more responsible approach.
Concrete itself is considered completely harmless, but due to the displacement of the soil as a result of heaving, there is a risk of water pollution.
- Before construction, make sure that there are no drain holes or landfills in a radius of 20-25 m, so that no harmful drains are leaking into the water.
- If the neighbors already have wells, then it is advisable to find out the depth of the aquifer and the composition of the soil. The most dangerous are swimmers.
- There are two ways to dig. For better equipment, it is better to roll out the barrel from the beginning up to 30-40 cm wider than the external diameter of the concrete ring for the well. Subsequently, this gap is filled with a pillow of gravel or rubble. It reduces the risk of displacement of the pillar and plays the role of a natural filter. But this way you can dig only not deep structures on stable soils.
- The second method is more common, as it is simpler from the technological side and requires fewer people and equipment. Here the hole under the first ring is first excavated and the ring itself sinks into it.
- Next, the worker begins to deepen the mine and remove the soil from under the ring. Gradually, under its weight, the construction is precipitated, the following sections are established as it deepens. But with this approach, you need to pay more attention to waterproofing.
Sealing the structure
Sealing a well of concrete rings is one of the most important moments. If the construction is designed for drainage or sewer septic tank, then to seal the intersection joints can safely use hemp, soaked in liquid glass and cement-sand solution.
You can also use bitumen mastics.
- In facilities for drinking water, such harmful compounds are not used. Here the approach is somewhat different. Firstly, for complex soils and quicksand, only locking rings should be used. Plus fix them with metal straps.
- Locks are arranged in such a way that they have a special recess for sealing material. The best option would be to lay the RubberElast German seal in this recess, it is specifically designed for waterproofing concrete structures, but the price is high.
- A more affordable option would be to use hemp smeared with special fibrous rubber to seal pools.
- From the outside, the concrete is covered with a waterproofing composition based on bitumen.

Important: for tapping into the well of a water pipe, diamond drilling of holes in concrete is used. This joint is sealed with a flush-mounted flush and two wide nuts with a seal.
- If there is a danger of contact with water or any wastewater, then you need to make a clay lock for the well of concrete rings. For this, the well is digged in at a distance of 30-40 cm, to the depth of the clay layer. Further, this gap is filled with wet clay and well compacted.
Making rings at home
The most problematic in the manufacture of such structures with their own hands, is to make a quality mold for casting.
There are many options, but we will focus on the most simple and common.

- For the manufacture of used 2 pipes of different diameters. The first will play the role of internal formwork, the second will limit the outer side. Metal drums or ventilation pipes can be used. And it is much more convenient to work with plastic forms.
- Instructions for making forms available to almost every owner. The length of the pipes will be the height of the finished product. The outer contour is divided strictly in half. For this you need to hold opposite 2 vertical lines.
- On the lines are welded or screwed 2 - 3 window canopy from the outside. Then, from the inside, with the help of the grinder, the contour should be carefully cut along the line and immediately cut off the edge of the core of the loops.
- As a result, after you remove the core of the window shed, the shape will split into 2 sectors.

- The inner contour is made in a similar way. The difference will be that 2 sectors need to be made of different sizes. The easiest way to divide the circle into 3 parts and cut 1 of these parts. Here canopies need to be fixed from the inside.
- Reinforced construction rod with a cross section of 6 - 10 mm. For a ring with a height of 1m, 3–5 transverse bridges are made. Along the perimeter of this circle with a step of 200 mm, vertical bridges are tied or welded.
- Rings are filled with the composition of the brand M200 or higher. Concrete is prepared from cement grades M400 or M500. Gravel size should be no more than? on the thickness of the product. For filling pure quartz sand is used. The ratios are shown in the table. Since the vibropress is not used, a special additive should be added to reduce the shrinkage of the solution.
- The entire volume of concrete for the rings of wells is poured in rows, about 200 mm high. After each fill, carefully grind the mortar around the perimeter to seal.

Tip: Of course the cost of concrete rings for wells made with their own hands will be an order of magnitude lower than the factory. But we do not recommend using them for serious deep structures. Because in artisanal conditions, it is impossible to fully comply with the requirements of GOST 8020-90, according to which the rings are made.
